Pear Mincemeat Crumble

For those who like mincemeat and want an alternative to tarts or pie, here is the recipe for our New Year's Eve dessert. It's from The Canadian Living Christmas Book.

Pear Mincemeat Crumble
4 cups sliced, peeled pears (about 5)
1 1/2 cups mincemeat
2 Tbs lemon juice
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup slivered or sliced almonds

In a 9" square baking dish, combine pears, mincemeat and lemon juice. In a bowl, stir together flour, sugar and rolled oats. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in almonds.

Sprinkle the almond mixture evenly over the pear and mincemeat mixture and bake in a preheated oven at 350 for about 25 to 30 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream. Makes 6 servings.
