Driving in Tobago... hide your children!

Doubtless this could have done with some judicious editing! Anyhoo, here's a taste of what it was like to drive in lovely Tobago.

I have to say, this video does NOT do justice to the steepness of the hills, nor to the hair-pin-turnedness of that narrow driveway at the end!!

Just be grateful I edited out the really loud burp...

PS: Our cat Alex is doing okay after seeing the vet today. His blood and other tests were fine. He's on antibiotics, and anti-nauseant, and some sort of pill that restores healthy gut flora! We'll see how he does. He seems perkier and more interested in food today too.

    1. Okay, mostly the left although I admit that in that video, it looks like I was driving down the middle. But I wasn't!!! :)

  2. Is that like driving around northern England, because I loved that! Dodging sheep, dodging Brits in Minis....fantastic!

    1. Gordon really didn't enjoy his day of driving, which is why I took over. :) Honestly, I didn't mind it, because the other drivers were pretty laid back and quite good! I would never, for example, drive in Mexico (although I did drive in San Jose, Costa Rica, and got lost at night. That was fun. NOT!)

    1. Gordon would have needed meds if I hadn't taken over the driving duties!! ;)

  6. I hope you didn't run over that dog!

    1. Not to worry, I did not! The dogs are very road-savvy there (I figure the ones who aren't get weeded out fast! :( ) and the only roadkill I saw was a giant rat.

  7. Whoa! You should be doing the Indie 500 or the Autoban!! You gave me a much needed laugh today; my oven when on the fritz...on Thanksgiving, no less!!

And I can't believe your oven gave out on Thanksgiving of all days!!!! Barbecued turkey? :(

  8. Creezus Jiest! For one, you're driving on the WRONG side of the road, AND two, you guys have adorable accents!

    1. And the steering wheel is on the wrong side too!!

What accents?! AHAHAHAHA! We're not even the most typical Canadians, because our accents were influenced by our English/Scottish parents. I swear the second-generation Canadians have the truer accents! I say "eh" but Gordon doesn't!

  9. Those roads looked like the ones were I grew up. Just a lane and a half, and you were lucky if you didn't have a blind curve. There was nothing like coming around a corner and meeting a semi coming the other way. :) Ah fond memories.

    1. Aaack, Kristine! I'm grateful I met no semis!!! That must have honed your reflexes!

    1. Yeah, uh, NO. I would not drive in Portugal either!!! I'm fine with the UK but forget the rest of Europe, or Latin America. No thanks!!

    2. I wouldn't drive in France, either. Quebec is bad enough!!

  12. I loved the color commentary, but could definitely live without that drive. Going into the driveway gives YOU the willies?!? That spinning camera shot made me think you had rolled over. Also, are you sure that was only a pothole you hit? I'm sure I saw a body fly out from behind the car. And, by the way, if that's they way you look on a bad day, you have nothing to worry about.

    1. The problem with that driveway is that it was really steep and started with two sharp 90-degree turns! And it was narrow as hell. So glad I remembered how to use my handbrake to hold me on a hill while I get into gear.

It's possible I hit a body, hahahaha. Or a giant rat.

And thank you for the compliment! This blog is soooooooo good for my ego. :)

  13. Glad to hear Alex is better. Tux wasn't doing well this morning, I'm hoping he's perked up by the time I get home from work.

What a fun drive and the commentary was entertaining. Sorry to hear you cat is having difficulties. One of mine is having same problem, he seems to be better on an expensive anti-allergy food after a round of steroids and antibiotics.

  15. Your blog has a drop down box that says:

"To view this page, you must log in to this area on bakerstreet.tv:80:" (you are supposed to click on cancel or add to my keychain)

and then the page freezes and the browser freezes too.

I had to open a new window, quick click on comments to leave you this comment. I don't want to add the bakerstreet, etc., to my keychain in order to view your blog because I don't know if this is you or someone is fishing your blog?

Kristine sent me a message to check your page and see if I have this happen too... the drop down box, etc., happens to her in Australia.

Hope there is not a problem with your blog. I would like to read your post but I'm afraid to click on the box choices. I've never seen this happen before when I've opened a blog.

Thank you, Knatolee, for reading my blog and leaving comments. I've been doing other stuff and haven't been reading blogs. I've been doing good to post on my own blog. Like I said, Kristine told me about the freezing box problem.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
