Nay? Neigh!

The maple syrup post is coming. I think I took 250 photos that I have to sort through!

Meanwhile, here are some pic of my friend Eugene's horses. (Eugene is also a beekeeper, cheesemaker and maple syrup genius.) I forget what breed they are, but they pull a sleigh and a wagon. Actually, they have a new filly (the golden one) who is probably some other breed altogether.

Velvety soft!

Don't you just want to pet that?

 Stanley!

Stanley about the catch hell from Molly, who is all protective of the new horse in the background.

Aren't they beauties?

The new girl with Stanley

Such a lovely horse! The electric wire may or may not have been switched on. I'm still not sure if Eugene was pulling my leg about it or not!

Addendum: I've got the scoop now: Stanley is  a Clydesdale, Molly is a draught mix, and Lilly (new filly) is a Belgian!

  1. I'm so jealous. I love the country life. Those horses are beautiful but I didn't realize that one can be very protective of the other. That's what I love about blogging ... learn something new every day. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

  3. They're lovely horses.
Eugene didn't try the "I can't quite get you in the photo, just lean back a bit" did he? You'd soon know if the wire was live or not!

  4. Awww, lovely horses. And they have the same names as my fur babies - Molly and Stanley. Yay! Give them a scratch from us next time!

They are so pretty! I can't wait for your maple syrup post. I love that stuff. I was raised on the high fructose fake crap so when I finally tasted the real thing ... I knew I had died and gone to heaven.

    Beautiful horses, really!
They make me think about freedom, you know? ;)

  7. Deb, I don't know a lot about horse behaviour and I would like to learn more, especially since I horse-sit our friends' Clydesdales on a regular basis! :) Apparently the mare is the boss in a herd (herd? What do you call a collection of horses?) and Molly is all protective of the new Lilly. Poor Stanley!

  8. Jennifer, I will try to get going on the syrup post tonight. It's going to have to be broken up into a few posts, since I have so many pictures.

  9. LBM, I was surprised Eugene even warned me about the wire. But then Gordon said he just said it was live to freak me out! Eugene would have loved to see me zap myself. I once grabbed an electric fence between me and a cow, thinking it wasn't live. I was holding my boyfriend's hand at the time. The shock went through me and terminated at him!

  10. Michele, I shall deliver your scratches!

CogDis, I don't put syrup on my pancakes (yes, I'm nuts, but I just like butter) BUT as you learned, there is NO comparison between real and fake. And I had no idea it was so good warm out of cup, a bit before it reaches its thickest consistency. Nirvana!

Giancarlo, nice to see you back in these parts. :) Don't you love to see a horse run?

  11. Hi Nat, I love big horses, and these are gorgeous! Give them a pet from Lynn please!

Can't wait for the maple syrup posts. Randy doesn't like syrup on pancakes, either, just butter. Odd, I say. I like maple syrup on everything, including pancakes! Bring it on!

  12. Lynn, I 'm like Randy, very restrained in my maple syrup use. Gordon is like you. But this morning, I crossed a line and put Eugene's maple syrup on my French toast! YUM!
