"Katie" is up for another award

I found out last week that the kids's book I illustrated, Katie of the Sonoran Desert/Katie del Desierto Sonorense, is going to receive a Moonbeam Children's Book Award. We will find out October 15th whether it's gold, silver or bronze in the Spanish-language book category. Think gold thoughts! I want the first print run to sell out so that I can make more than ten cents an hour for my work. :)

If you would like to buy the book, it's available on Amazon and also through the publisher, and if you wanted a little signed-by-the-illustrator bookplate thingy, just email me and I'll send you one. It's also available at the wonderful Boutique Lafleur in Alexandria, Ontario.

I would love to go to Traverse City, Michigan for the awards ceremony in November but I don't think I'll be able to swing it (unless someone would like to loan me their private jet!)

  1. Congratulations! Hope you get the gold! I'll put the book on my get list for the next visit to my area bookstore. I love going to bookstores (used ones too.) I know I pay more, but ordering a book is just not as much fun as spending the day looking at books, cd's, and going out to lunch. Do you go to your local libraries and read your book at story time? I wonder if libraries still do that? I would love to loan you one of my private jets, but they are all being painted orange for Halloween. hee, hee

  4. Yay! I'm rooting for gold!
I plan on winning the lotto soon, I probably wont buy a private jet with my winnings but I'll rent one for you.

  5. If you can't find it, tell your local library to buy it! I would love to see it in more libraries.

Callie, there's nothing like hanging out in a bookstore. My favourite, favourite place to be. I wish the independent ones weren't having such a tough time. I haven't read at the library yet but the local library wants me to. Right now most of the original book drawings are hanging down there, and they have a nice display for our book.

    I'd love an orange jet!
