Nice Road Truckers

Last Sunday, Gordon and I pretended to be real farmers, borrowed our neighbours' pick-up truck, and went to purchase a load of fruit trees...

I'm such a docile little farmer's wife. Not.

He really likes driving a pick-up. I can tell.

I found the contents of the cab fascinating. These are the things a REAL farmer has in his/her truck...

And old, cool tire gauge, and a plastic fork for meals on the run (probably from the local poutine stand!)

A bagged chainsaw blade...

...and a boxed chainsaw blade.

A manly-man dashboard, not like the ones in our wee little Mazda cars!

...and a significant amount of squashed insect on the windscreen.
Train's coming!

Gordon made me pose with the Chevy Thunder logo.

We went to Barclay's Orchard to pick up our trees (and ten raspberry canes.)

We now have four apple trees, two pear trees, two Montmorency cherry trees, two plum trees, andthree flowering crabs in white, pink and red.

The apple trees were blooming as we left the orchard...

And around the corner, there was a llama ranch. It's right near the 401 highway, hence the billboard skeleton in the background.

A VERY handsome llama!

The only downside to the day was that we couldn't find an ice-cream stand.

  1. Hey, that's the ticket! I have serviettes in the glove box so now I'll add a plastic fork or two. Good call!

  2. Oh my God, I had to laugh out loud when I read "a real man's truck" and then I see it's a Chevy Thunder. My partner's truck!
(He hides his manliness by driving a Mercedes during the week: Wuss!)

  4. When I was a kid in the 40's all the pickups had gun racks with guns in them. Less crime then. Hope your trees do well.
