I am pretty darn excited this morning. The kids' book I illustrated, Katie of the Sonoran Desert, has been named a finalist in the IPPY Awards in the category of Multi-Cultural Non-Fiction Juvenile/Teen/Young Adult. As one of the three finalists in this category, the book will win at least the Bronze! They are finalizing the list of awards this Thursday. You can see the entire list here.
Cross your fingers for a gold, not that I am about to complain about silver or bronze!

Congratulations Natalie! That is wonderful and I'm sure the book was nominated due in no small part to your wonderful illustrations. Yeah!

I'll be sure to have Yadira (that's my thesis student)add the award to her thesis!! forgot to look when the awards are being ..er...awarded. She's almost finished. Just waiting for the last interview data from the translator of Katie. It's pretty good... i'll send it to you when it's all ship-shape if you're interested in reading it.
(I just read about that sink hole thing east of Montreal ... how TERRIBLE ... I was reminded that i hadn't checked your blog in a while ...lots of catching up to do.)
Nick, I used to design t-shirts at a sportswear company. I LOVE designing t-shirt, and I have been meaning to get back into that for fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words and support, everyone!
Dr. Sloth, I would LOVE to see the thesis!
And yes, the sinkhole was awful. :(
