That's no chickadee...

What the...

...who's that on my birdfeeder?!

Hey, that's no chickadee! That's Jimette (who was named Jim until I realized he was a she!) With Sherlock and his girlfriend sauntering around below.

Jimette loves to escape and hang out under this birdfeeder, but this is the first time I've seen her on top of it.

She seemed very pleased with herself!

Funny, there were no woodpeckers at the suet feeder while Jimette was sitting up top.

Meanwhile, down in the barn...

A boy and his chickens!

Did I mentioned Emma Muff  is still sitting on a nest of eggs in the barn?! It took me over a week to find her hiding place and by that point, I figured I'd let her do her thing and see how many babies emerge. It's really not the time of year to be hatching out eggs, but she's a very broody hen. We'll see what happens. Christmas mufflets, perhaps? We've been through this before...

  1. What a goose! or is it a duck? Some of these critters can really surprise you.
I don't like the chances of those eggs hatching. It's pretty cold for here to keep them at that temperature. Surprise me.

    1. Boss duck for sure! She leads her little gang of ladies every day. The four of them keep ending up in our garden, or up on our deck.

  8. Love how your Jimette, Sherlock match the weather outside. Guess Jimette, (nice name :)) wanted to see all she could see. Emma Muff will probably be hensmart enough to spread those wings over her chickies against the cold. LOVE that pic of Gordon and the chickens. Too cute! Nice chicken artwork behind him, too.

    1. If anyone can hatch eggs in December, it's Mama Emma. She is a very devoted chicken mama. I am keeping a close eye on her. We'll see if she manages to pull this off. :)

  10. Animals are always full of surprises. That's one of the things that makes them so delightful. I hope the little chicks can survive in the wintry weather when they hatch.
