I made some chocolate truffle mice this year. I've made them before and I wouldn't be surprised if they're on this blog somewhere already, but I'm too lazy to check. This blog has the recipe, but I got it out of my old Canadian Living Christmas Book.
And here we have...
...Van Gogh mouse!
I'm no longer religious, so Christmas has become a secular holiday for me, but I do have fond memories of attending midnight Mass in my younger days. Always a magical night at church!
For me, Christmas is a time to reflect on how lucky I am to have a nice home, food on my table, clothes on my back, and a hubby and friends and pets who love me. It's also a time to share things like chocolate truffle mice with my buddies. If you celebrate Christmas, I wish you a very merry one! Every year I wish there really would be peace on earth, but I just don't believe human beings are capable of it. Still, it's something to strive for. We can start by being more tolerant of each other and accepting of differing beliefs. In fact, we need to be more tolerant of "difference," period. As soon as people start acting from a place of fear, the world is in trouble...
Peace and love, man. I'm a child of the 70s!
Onto other things...
And here is the needle-felted calico cat I made as a Chanukah present for my fabulous friend Ronna...
Complete with the signature butthole found on all two of my felted cats! :)
More than once I have woken up in the morning to find myself viewing a scene very similar to the photo above. And yesterday morning, I woke up to find the cats' large stuffed toy rat lying on my chest! Never a dull moment around here.
Wishing you a peaceful, happy Christmas eve.
That cat has pinkeye! Happy Xmas!
ReplyDeleteHUMBUG!
ReplyDeleteI love you!
DeleteThat cat is absolutely brilliant. I wouldn't have a clue where to start!
ReplyDeleteHave a good break, both of you. It's what we do too. Jx
Thank you! You too!
DeleteMerry Christmas, Knatolee!
ReplyDeleteAs for the stuffed toy rat, maybe it was the feline Godfather sending a message?
I hadn't considered that, but I fear you may be right!!
Deletethose are amazing :) Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteThanks Monkey! You too!
DeleteVery cute little calico kitty!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all of you!
You too, Pasha!
DeleteI love my calico kitty. The felted one and the real one! Thanks so much. Best Chanukah gift ever!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure!!!
DeleteI nearly suspect that you covered real mice with chocolate to tempt me...You wouldn't do that to me, would you? Cute kitty!
ReplyDeleteJoyeuse Veille de Noël à toute la maisonnée!
Merci merci merci! Are you having tourtière, Claude?
DeleteOkay...I'm still laughing over the "button hole"!! How perfect and the mice are delectable; I know my grandson would get a kick out of them, XOXO
ReplyDeleteIf you were closer, I'd send some over. :) Have a great Christmas! xoxo
DeleteWell said !
ReplyDeleteI share your hope for peace. I also doubt that we will attain that much peace. Our leaders exhibit to little openness to other people , ideas and beliefs.
Have a very peaceful holiday.
You too, Red!
DeleteYou mixed the mice and the cat really well :) I love how accurate the kitty is ;)
ReplyDeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS and an AMAZING NEW YEAR!
Thanks Sandra, and the same to you! :)
DeleteA fine piece of needle felting. And a little pink hole. My daughter, around two, leaned over, jabbed her little finger dead on and announced "Hole." Poor cat.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday.
Hahahaha! Kids! A great story. Happy holidays to you too, Joanne. :)
DeleteGotta include the Pink Starfish! After all, every kitty has one...or is one...
ReplyDeleteThe mice look delicious.
Meowy Catmas from all of us at the Katnip Lounge!
Thank you and the same to you!!
Delete"We can start by being more tolerant of each other and accepting of differing beliefs"
ReplyDeletePeople can believe what they want as far as I am concerned, but it is what their beliefs drive them to do that is the problem, and some people have beliefs that drive them to do things that make peace impossible, sadly. So we get back to the problem of the beliefs. It is easy to wish for peace but, like you, I don't really see much prospect of humanity achieving it anytime soon, though we do slowly get closer, in general, perhaps. And on that little positive note, Happy Winter Solstice times as our little world swing on around its sun..
If I think about it too much, I get totally depressed!! Time for some egg nog. :)
DeleteI wish for Peace, too and tolerance and everyone loving everyone but after the last week of news I have had to turn off the radio for now. Too depressing. Anyhoo..."Merry Christmas, Natalie & Gordon and all your wonderful little creatures. Sending hugs to all the cats and dogs. I know life is very busy but lets try to meet in the new year. I'll make that one of my resolutions. Hope Santa is good to you. Hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteI can't listen to the news either. :( Trying to focus on the good things. And yes, ROnna and I both want to come visit you! I will bring honey!
DeleteYou just reminded me. We have some tiny wooden mice that ALWAYS sit on the cheese board at Christmas... I must go find them, thank you. That cat is awesome (did I really write 'awesome'?). Very best wishes, Cro xx
ReplyDeleteThe mice look delicious !
ReplyDeleteThe cat you made is just soooo cute <3

ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely Christmas and wish you all the very best for 2013.
