Lost and lonely chair

So I saw this ad in a free local Cornwall paper. "Lost: Oak Captain Chair around 6:45 pm Thursday May 17 on Cornwall Centre Road between Power Damn and Highway 138"

I have a few points and questions. First of all, it's "Power DAM" Road not "Power DAMN." Although after our recent 14-hour hydro outage, I did say "We need POWER, DAMN IT!"

So I'm wondering: how did the chair get lost? Was the owner taking it for a walk on Cornwall Centre Road when all of a sudden, the Captain Chair saw a sexy Swivel Chair in a nearby field and made a run for it?

Or did it less-excitingly fall off the back of a truck or trailer?  If so, it means the owner wasn't smart enough to tie down the chair properly, and is lucky the chair didn't go through the windshield of the car  following it.

Further proof of the owner's limited intellectual capacity is the fact that he didn't include a phone number or any way of notifying him if the chair is indeed found! Power DAMN!

So, how do YOU think the chair got lost?

Speaking of DAMS, check out the dam cake my friend Ronna made for a birthday recently!

  2. Maybe the (alledgedly) stupid chair owner expects it to appear where he left. A spot of magic you see.

  4. I think somebody was completely inebriated...loose the chair, can't spell, forgets phone number.
Or it could be a prank??

  5. That chair must be male. He refused to stop and ask for directions :)

  7. The chair took a somersault off the back on a turn. It landed upright on a corner where the locals are happily sitting in it watching traffic go by. If the owner drove past there, he'd probably get a friendly wave!

  8. I think the chair saw a nice sturdy oak tree, said "These are my people!" and leapt off the vehicle.

  10. If it was a true Captain Chair then the owner probably swears like a sailor; ergo: Power DamN Road. :)

Ah...May I take the opportunity to post this plea on my own behalf:

LOST: 57 year-old man. Somewhat battered and soiled from wear and tear but still funtioning. No idea why I am here, where I am going, or where "here" really is, or why it is. Offers of help or guidance will be gratefully received, but perhaps ignored ;)

Still "functioning" actually, but clearly not still spelling correctly ;)

  13. Maybe it was the chair that put the ad in the paper. It had fallen off the back of a truck and was letting it's owners know where it was, so that they could come and collect it.
Hence the bad spelling and no phone number.

  14. How does one not notice losing an item off the back of a truck? (I assume it was a truck)...and to know the aproximate time to boot?
I vote with Red. Inibriation.... in any case, with such shoddy treatment, who would blame a poor chair from making use of her legs and run away from home!
