A little more watermelon fun

Yep, the ducks got more watermelon treats this week!

Girl duck in need of name had a great time! She's all white.

Oedipus is all white too! They both enjoy a nice fruit snack.

Meanwhile, back in babyville...

I have to figure out when the other eggs are going to hatch, because we'll have to shift these guys out of here when that happens. Hopefully they'll be big enough to move in with the general population then.

They all have very adorable tails right now....

I named the drake "Jim" after my Dad, who would have appreciated it.

Jim has the best duckling tail right now!

He's feisty but he sat on my lap for quite a while today. He'll be less cute this time next year when's he making the moves on his sisters and mothers. Ducks have no scruples.

Cuteness!

And Mama Ronna isn't so bad herself!

  1. I love the little blue feathers in the tail. Really gorgeous. Mama Ronna looks very happy with her family. Ducks really are so sweet. So, do you keep all these babies or do you sell some? Your 'farm' is getting bigger :)

    1. I would give them to people as pets, but otherwise they'll all just stay. We try to keep the numbers under control! We seem to lose some ducks and chickens every year, so it does balance out. Good thing our barn is large!

  4. What a handsome brood. I love the photo of Mama Ronna--she looks like a severely strict librarian.

  10. Fragile little wonders of life on Earth. Makes me happy and sad all at the same time. Foxes are wonders of life on Earth too, and cats and buzzards and eagles... But these ducklings have got lucky with you to look after them.

  11. Did you buy a job lot of watermelons or have you grown your own? You seem to have an endless supply!

    1. I SHOULD grow my own, but no, we buy them. Not very often though, really! :)
