Loving Ireland...

Just love this country. Feels like home to me...

Yesterday we went horseback riding which included cantering across a beach! Absolutely fantastic. I will never forget it. I rode a Connemara pony named Chip while Gordon had a Cob horse named Henry.

We went for a great three-hour ride around Cleggan.

Yes, I am now confident enough on horseback to take selfies while riding.

This morning we walked down the beach near where we are staying.

The farmer brought his doggy friend along for the tractor ride.

Tide was out!

Gordon did a bit of beach-combing!

And I gave some more scritchies to the Connemara pony living in the pasture across from our place.

Then this afternoon, we hiked 1,450 feet to the top of Diamond Hill in Connemara National Park.

At the peak!

The views were spectacular. We did just fine except for the very start of coming down from the peak. There was a step drop-off to the side of the stone steps which was a little disconcerting. But we got past that and made our way back down.

What an amazing day. And according to my Fitbit, I climbed 150 flights of stairs! :) Yes, we climbed to the very top of that "hill"!!

  7. I've ridden a Welsh Cob (very similar looking), they are the most gently and friendly creatures. Lovely pix.
