After a very hot day yesterday, we got a torrential, very localized rainstorm. My friend Ronna, about 25 minutes north of me, stayed high and dry, but the skies opened up here. I knew something was something was coming when I saw these cloud formations...
So dramatic over the wheat fields!
We set heat records today and yesterday. Things are supposed to cool down overnight, with perhaps a thunderstorm.
And this morning, Emily was running around the house making that "I just caught something tasty!" cat noise. Here she is, proudly displaying her kill:
Yes, the brush from a paint roller. What a vicious killer! :)
Emily is obviously a natural huntress. When I left Toronto tonight, it was getting hammered with a wicked storm. I live about an hour away - it's just reaching here now.
ReplyDeleteShe is such a cute little hunter with pretty eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe juicy season can have some pretty spectacular storms. You nailed this one.
ReplyDeleteThe sky was so beautiful!
DeleteYou must be lovin' that new camera. Great photos. Now Emily, she must be very proud as that is quite a large catch. Annie brought me a wine cork yesterday and howled and chirped until I praised her.
ReplyDeleteTHey are so funny with their "kills'! What a good girl, Annie!
DeleteWe had monsoon rains for hours in Lincolnshire yesterday but it wasn't just over the house in our case, I think that the neighbours got it too ...
ReplyDeleteThat there fluffy thing that your cat has caught is the new genetically modified house mouse - designed to stack easily for storage and then roll under beds once a week to gather all of the fluff.
Hope your monsoon dries up soon! And glad that now I know what that prey is! :)
DeleteIt kinda makes you wonder where that paint roller has been that it smells like prey! You really got some wonderful cloud shots!
ReplyDeleteEeeeyuw!! Around a farm, the possibilities are terrifying! :) So many dead things, so little time... ;)
DeleteAHahahahahahah! Lovely hunter!
ReplyDeleteIsn't she?!
DeleteHa thus endeth a major threat to the planet. You realise that it wasn't a paint roller but part of a very small alien invasion fleet
ReplyDeleteUh oh...
