Okay, remember back at the start of the month when I told you how we witnessed a cat being struck and killed by a car, and we took it to the nearby animal hospital hoping it would have a microchip? (It didn't.)
Well, I also posted about the incident on the Ottawa Valley Lost Pet Network and amazingly, a friend of the cat's owner saw my post and shared it with her, knowing that her cat had just gone missing in that very area.
This is little Goobie, who was accidentally let out and was still technically a kitten...
As I suspected, this cat was a loved pet. While it was awful to see her get hit, we took comfort from the fact that she died instantly. And today her owner got ahold of me on Facebook. I didn't notice the message until today (stupid "other" inbox!) although she sent it over a week ago.
When she saw this on the Ottawa Valley Lost Pet Network FB page, she called the animal hospital and they were able to identify the cat as hers. ..
She was able to have her cat cremated and even get a paw print!
So while I am still upset about this poor cat being run down, we can take some comfort in the knowledge that her owner now knows what happened to her, and was able to bring home her ashes.
Sometimes the internet makes amazing things happen.

ReplyDeleteWhile her untimely death was tragedy for her and the family that loved her, it would have been far more horrible for her survivors to be forever haunted by never knowing what happened to her, A great act of kindness you performed,Natalie and Gordon, for both kitty and humans.

ReplyDeleteViva today's technology! I also feel it's so much better to know this happened to your cat, instead of it just being missing. You are very kind-hearted, Natalie. You helped the owner to get closure and have the kitties ashes and paw print. The lady living in our SA home's one cat went missing in November last year, we all still look for Topsy. It would be better if someone has seen him run down and she wouldn't be "hoping" all this time. I sent Topsy and his brother, Tipsy (still safely here at home) from Tanzania to be reunited with his mama Rina, Have a great day. Jo
