Say hello to Roo!

So, I didn't rescue this horse...

I, er, bought him. Today. After a couple of weeks of thinking about it.

This is Roo, an 8-year-old registered quarter horse gelding. I rode him in my lessons a few times and sort of fell for him.... and he was up for sale anyway! No doubt my sly instructor put us together on purpose.

Riding him is ablast!  He's awesome and about as safe as a horse can be (I believe no horse is "bomb proof"!) Well-trained and so handsome!

My friend took him outside for a real test ride, because there's still only so much I can do on a horse right now.

Debbie approved of him! She also walked beside me while I rode him outside for a bit.

We won't be bringing him home until at least next spring. For now I'm boarding him at the place I take lessons, and will continue to ride him in lessons (or let Gordon ride him!) while I learn and do more trail riding. As well, we want to take driving lessons with him during the winter and have him learn to pull a sled or something. Meanwhile, I'm continuing to teach Finney.

So that's my latest craziness. But I'm loving it!

  2. Oh, this poor horse will be kept busy. Horses do thrive on work. You will like training him and find out more about yourself.

  8. You were in my dream last night! And, I had to tell my husband all about your menagerie and how fantastic you are with your animals--he said, "does she live very far...let's take a trip one day and visit."

  16. Congrats on the new equine! Don't ever forget your helmet. If mine had a point on it I would have stuck in the ground at least once. At this age I better not try that again.
