Actually, I doubt I'd swim in it. I'm sure there are leeches! Remember the pond we had dug in March?
Poor Sophie, she would have loved to swim in it this summer!
Look at it now! It has really filled in.
Already it is full of little fish and frogs.
And the little tributary of the Beaudette River that fills it has widened.
Gordon had the brilliant idea of building a boardwalk across the pasture to the pond, with a screened gazebo at the end. That pasture floods every spring and gets quite wet and spongy. And of course it's mosquito/blackfly central back here. I think he has a great idea.
We walked back to the Beaudette River afterwards. In the photo above, it runs horizontally across where the line of trees are...

Wow! What a transformation. You two are visionaries. The idea of the walkway and gazebo sound great, too. That's some beautiful country you have there.

ReplyDeleteActually Sean, the nice thing about the pond is that it cost us not a dime! (A gazebo and boardwalk will be another story!!) It was a project by Ducks Unlimited and our local conservation authority! :) The next project on the horizon is a nine-acre pond through Ducks Unlimited. I will get a little rowboat for that one!
