Calendula! My friend Pierre gave me these as seedlings. I am drying the petals to use in soapmaking.
Tomatoes! The oval one at front left is called Thai Pink Egg. Two thumbs up. I'll grow it again next year.
ANd this is not exactly from my garden....
Greek pizza. But the tomatoes and red onion on it ARE indeed from my garden.
And not quite my garden, but close enough...
It's not a bloody massacre. It's ducklings eating watermelon. THey LOVE it but they get very messy because they dive right in.
Nobody's bleeding.
It's all watermelon juice!
Mama and her youngster dig in.
The chickens like watermelon too!
Emma and her ten chicks had a great time.
And after a long hard day of eating watermelon, it's time for a family nap...
Twitchy has started hanging out with Karène and the babies.
Zzzzzzz! Still sleeping in a warm pile every night.
And Tristan is doing great! He has healed up well from his surgery and he doesn't even need his t-shirt now, because he has been leaving his incision alone. He seems quite happy. :)
Aww, those ducklings. Getting so big but oh so very sweet!
ReplyDeleteWell done Tristan.
He has healed up incredibly well!
DeleteWhat a happy, contented lot! I'm so happy to hear Tristan is doing so well, too.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask what flowers are used for in soap-making?
I just used calendula petals to make the soap look pretty! :)
DeleteYah! for Tristan. Cutest little ducks and chicks ever and that pizza..oh.my.goodness.
ReplyDelete:)))
DeleteI have pictures of two young granddaughters, soaked from hem to armpit in watermelon juice. Watermelon is universal nectar.
ReplyDeleteKids of every species just love it! :)
DeleteTypical messy teenage ducklings :)
ReplyDeleteThat's about the size of it!!
DeleteThe ducklings are getting so big already! Wow! Glad you clarified all the red because it does look like blood! So cute that Emma and her chicks enjoy the watermelon too :) That pizza looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteTHey grow like weeds! I wish they'd stay little just a bit longer.
DeletePutting at least thirty, probably even more comments into one: Lovely, Knatolee, and thank you for often making me smile.
ReplyDeleteYou are so kind, Sean! Thank you!
DeleteEmma is quite an attractive lady, isn't she? What poise, what majestic tail! I am glad Tristan is doing well.
ReplyDeleteShe is, and she knows it!
DeleteYou can almost here them giggling as they dig into that watermelon!
ReplyDeleteYAY for Tristan!
Jane x
The great watermelon massacre!
DeleteLove the calendula - my flower gardens aren't fantastic this year, but the veggies are doing pretty darn good.
ReplyDeleteI'm having a really good tomato year all of a sudden!
DeleteIt looks like a lot of fun is going on in that garden of yours :-)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that Tristan is healing up so well.
Thanks Cherry! And my garden is a little out of control!
DeleteMMMMMM watermelon! We don't have any here. I'm coming to your house. hee hee
ReplyDeleteWe would share with you, Isobelle!
DeleteI'll take the pizza! It looks great. I don't think I'll eat water melon after this!!!
ReplyDeleteHee hee hee! Sorry about that.
DeleteDon't you want to just tuck inside that little warm pile of down for an afternoon snooze? So adorable. Great to hear about Tristan's speedy recovery, even for now. He is a great dog and companion.
ReplyDeleteLove that old dork dog!
DeleteNow I want ducks! I have no idea what I would do with them but they sure are cute. Good for Tristan leaving the incision alone.
ReplyDeleteI really adore my ducks. They never fail to make me smile. And their eggs are great!
DeleteI'm trying to imagine what makes a Greek Pizza, different to an Italian one; Feta cheese and Retsina topping perhaps? It does look good!
ReplyDeleteAround here, they usually put feta, olives, onions, tomatoes and oregano on "Greek" pizza. Sometimes i put on red pepper and pine nuts (nothing Greek about pine nuts!) Mainly it's the feta and olives that I think qualify it as Greek!
DeleteOh, your pictures make me want to live there! But then winter would arrive... Meantime.... ohhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteYou could go to Spain in winter! :)
DeleteWow, your tomato crop is off to a good start. Those watermelon pics are hilarious!
ReplyDeleteThey are doing really well right now. Made salsa today.
DeleteLovely photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteLooking in garden catalog for Pizza Pie seeds! As always, love the photos of your life and household creatures. :)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be nice if pizza grew on trees? ahhhh!
DeleteLOVELY photos !
ReplyDeleteMy mom-person would very much like to have a Pizza now :)
It was pretty tasty!
DeleteI am enjoying your blogs. You are new to me but I identify easily, having been a rancher in the Interior of BC and then a farmer in the Peace River country. We are retired now and travelling a lot in our RV but some of our best memories with our sons on the farm were of the chickens and geese and ducks, oh and the so fun pigs.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like lots of fun! We lived out in BC for 2-1/2 years before coming back east. I bet your farm was great!
Deleteps. our calendula out here is much more yellow...is it a different type?
ReplyDeleteI have a few varieties, Karyn. Some are yellow, some are orange, some are orange and red... amazing mixes!
