First day of spring!
We got slammed with a big snowstorm yesterday. I swear there's almost a foot of new snow. Huge drifts all over the place.
We've had our laneway plowed out twice in the past 24 hours.
But it IS very pretty!
Beautiful sunrise over the snow this morning.
Meanwhile, in Squirrelville...
This little guy has odd white patches of fur all over him. Or maybe he lost his top coat of red fur in those spots? Anyway, I see him regularly.
He managed to find himself some birdseed!
Emily contemplates breakfast.
"Please break the window for me? Please??!"
Happy spring!
I haven't seen one of those red squirrels in a long time - all we have are the really fat grey ones.
ReplyDeleteWe have very few of those around. I think the red squirrels chase them all away!
DeleteI know it's Spring because I can hear the geese honking on the pond, daffodils are blooming, and my crows are bugging me for any leftover bread! The snow is beautiful, but I'm glad we haven't seen any this year...except up on the mountains! Happy Spring, dear friend, XOXO
ReplyDeleteOurs just will NOT go away this year! But I am starting my tomato seeds in side this weekend.
DeleteOh, poor baby!
ReplyDeleteThe spring comes... soon the sun will heat everything!
It's true , and I will be complaining about the heat in August!
DeleteMaybe Mr. Squirrel is old.
ReplyDeleteEntirely possible! I feed them so well, you know. ;)
DeleteI haven't seen any red squirrels this winter but I've had as many as ten gray squirrels coming to eat at a time. I've been taking stale bread and making sandwiches with shortening. I figure they need the fat since they probably have a litter of pups by now. It's crazy that they breed so early in the year. We have so much snow!
ReplyDeleteLucky things! I bet they love that fat. THey are having babies around here now, too. yes, so early!!
DeleteAw, Emily just wants to make friends. Can't you tell by that innocent look on her face? Trust her.
ReplyDeleteOK, your first day of spring is beautiful, but I have to admit that I like our version much more.
Yeah, I trust her. Not! :)
DeleteThe snow is very pretty but would be better suited to the first day of winter, I think!!
I love the glow of the sun on the snow!
ReplyDeleteIt was around 7 am and the light was so pretty!
DeleteThe first shot of spring is awesome. I like the snow shadow and sky color. You've had a your share of snow this year,.
ReplyDeleteRed, it's certainly been a "real" winter!!
DeleteNice pics. But still, I like our spring better. We got lucky here. Heavy snowfall from the north of Germany up to around Frankfurt 3 days ago.
ReplyDeleteI bet you were glad that missed you!!!
DeleteCrikey Natalie, when is it going to end?
ReplyDeleteI'd be with Emily, crawling up the furniture by now..
A couple of years back, we still had snow in our woodlot in MAY.
DeleteI wish red squirrels were not so rare here. The only tie I ever saw a red squirrel in the flesh was at Peterhof just outside St Petersburg
ReplyDeleteHere they are not seen in the cities, but rather near forests and wooded areas! They breed like rabbits on our farm. I think it's all the black walnut trees. :)
Delete1st and 2nd courses within her grasp, and hardly any of that furry stuff to have to pick from her teeth. I think Emily and my Hercules are related - Herc has the very same spot here in Oakville atop the coat closet. Quite alarming if all of a sudden you look up and find you're fixed with his stare. May the sun come out and start to melt all that lovely white stuff into big puddles of water very very soon.
