It's easy. Try to steal one of her babies! :)
She always goes for me when I pick up a duckling but soon calms down and returns to the others. It's like she's making an effort for show, then figures "Eh, I have 11 more where that one came from."
She is one fierce mama!
And here is the ducklings' first real swim:
Someone suggested a paint tray so that they can get out easily. Ducklings can drown!
Yes, I always talk like that the animals. The smaller and cuter they are, the more air-headed I sound.
I love mama's tail twitching back and forth!
ReplyDeleteOh my she is protective! I just loved seeing the babes swimming. Such fun you are having.
ReplyDeleteWandering cat, they all do that pretty much constantly and it's so adorable! Even the babies do it with their stubby bums.
ReplyDeleteNancy, isn't she though? I try not to stress her out too much but I want to be able to handle the babies a little. But she seems to settle down after making a show of attacking me. She's such a good mama. I wish they didn't grow up so fast!
Those ducklings are growing so fast! I was startled when mama duck pounced on you so quickly when you took one of the ducklings.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, Ahab!!
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought your stylin' boots were too tight and made you talk funny...
ReplyDeleteKatnip, they probably aren't helping the blod flow to my brain any!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat fierce Mama could do some damage!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good mom. She was OK with baby hanging around you until you grabbed it. She's very watchful!
ReplyDeleteCogDis, I've done okay, save for one V-shaped duck-beak cut on my arm! :)
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. They are getting bigger by the minute!
ReplyDeletePaula, I picked up a duckling yesterday and was amazed at how much heavier it felt than it was even just last weekend! But they still all nap under Mama.
