Miiiiiiiiillicent

What are Archie, Pip and Daisy staring at?

Why it's MILLICENT the barn house cat! Her abscess healed up very nicely.

Doesn't she look like she has made herself right at home on top of the dog crates? She is still spending most of her time in Gordon's upstairs office, with occasional visits from the tolerant Naomi. This is the slowest new-cat introduction EVER.

Pip had a snooze next to Millicent. Yes, cats sleep on top of the puppy crates. It's especially hilarious when the dogs are inside and start barking and jumping up and down. The cats don't care one bit!

Pip tried to give Millicent a little bath...

...it was not well-received.

Somebody has a lot of attitude. She really would make the most fantastic cat for a little old lady living on her own. I really wish my mother-in-law would have a cat, but alas, she won't. So I do my best to love up Millicent as much as I can.

Needless to say, she is 14,000 times happier in the house than in the barn. Meanwhile, I despair over my own cat-lady status and the fact that I may now never have a house with a nice couch and unscratched hardwood floors... (I'm looking at you, cats and puppies!) And instead of getting our fugly bathrooms renovated, we keep spending money on goat houses and crap like that! :) But no one should EVER complain to me about their vet bills, LOL.

It's worth it. I think.

And Millicent is thrilled with life.

PS: I am feeling much better from my horse boo-boo! My ultrasound went fine and I plan to get back on my horse this weekend if possible! Thanks for all the good thoughts. :)

    1. She'll be fine, but I don't to freak her out with puppies chasing her and 11 cats stalking her all at once, LOL. :)

  3. Good for Millicent; she has come through the crack like a little Christmas mouse. Now, dear lady, you must stop thinking of your cat-lady status and just be grateful you can help them.

  5. Aw, poor rejected Pip. :-)

It's lovely to see Millicent so settled in, the rest of the kitty clan notwithstanding.

Yeah, it is worth it, Natalie. You're doing something so meaningful, making an enormous difference in the lives of so many other Beings, you're working for their Highest Good. I can't think of anything more important, certainly not any bathroom reno. That's just superficial stuff (unless something is leaking!).

    Best,

    1. I know but Kiiiiiiim, I hate those fake oak cabinets with all my soul! ;) But thank you for your kind words. And the cabinets and fake tile floors will get replaced eventually!

  6. I too think it's worth it. Those of us who do - know what it's like to not have plants inside (our cats eat them...) and all flowers delivered have to remain in the bathroom within a closed door, no centerpieces on the tables (unless they're too heavy to be knocked over, and what's a little cat hair here and there? What's that old song Jimmy Durante used to sing... "Make someone happy, just one someone happy... and you will be happy too." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flvGmVgwkWk

  8. So glad you're doing well physically and weren't seriously hurt. Does your mother-in-law know you just called her a little old lady???

  9. That pic at the top with the 3 felines staring at Millicent is my favorite. I'm so glad you weren't seriously hurt when you fell off Roo and that you're feeling better!

And as for whether all that you do is worth it, I know it's more work and expense than most of us readers can appreciate. But I hope you know that it's not just about all those lucky critters. Your blog is a breath of fresh air that constantly reminds those of us (like me!) who tend to lean a tad too cynical at times that there are truly good people in this world. That means a lot.

  10. I am laughing at the slowest cat introduction ever! Oh my they can be hard to add to the mix. She is adorable and I think she is indoor for sure. I admire all you do for these sweet animals. Glad you are feeling better and will get back on your horse! Hugs!

  12. Sure wish that I could have Millicent, I really do. I love her plump little feet and legs and her color. Kitties are so sweet. That first picture is cute as can be. Hope your soreness goes away soon...glad you didn't break a bone when you fell.

  17. I, too, know how it is to have to constantly battle trying to keep a clean (what's that?!) house, keep the cat hair picked up, "accidents" whether on purpose or not cleaned up, dried puke on the floor scraped up, a divan covered with throws so if someone comes over, they can peel back the covers to sit down on a clean sofa, etc. etc. etc. Yes, I know it! I have 9...NINE...in the house with 5, FIVE, outside (feral and would never tolerate being inside the house). I have a 15 year old Himalayan that has just decided he'd rather poop somewhere (take a guess..no, really, it's a game to find it) on the floor than in the litter. He has never done that! I blame is on being a "senior". My others don't do THAT, but I have a fairly territorial one who thinks he has to spray every once in a while, just enough to let everyone know HE IS KING OF THE HOUSE. *SIGH* But you know what? I love them all dearly and still am trying to get one more in the house from outside - he was a kitten dumped on our porch during the warm weather. I hate thinking him being out when it's cold, but they all have heaty pads in their kitty cubes with blankets covering to keep the wind down, plus a nice kitty house insulated with plastic. What we do for our loved pets. So, Natalie, I don't think you need to ever fear being called a cat-lady, it's not the *worst* thing in the world! :)

And....I hope you get to feeling better after your fall!
