When we got up this morning, it was -31C... which was harder to take than it would have been had it not been 17C on Christmas day! What a drop.
Emily didn't mind...
...she was warm and cosy on the bathroom windowsill! Yesterday was her Gotcha Day. She was dumped here four years ago in the bitter cold as a 6-week-old kitten. As you can see, she's doing just fine.
And Pip and Mootie were being hilarious today...
And sigh, I remember when I thought having four cats TOTAL was a lot, never mind just four cats hanging around a chair...
...that's Alex lurking underneath!
I got Gordon a special mug to commemorate our little driving mishap with his Fjord horse Sandy...
She trashed the cart she is hooked up to in the photo on the mug! After it overturned (in December when we were learning to drive at a horse camp weekend), Gordon said "Even teddy bears kill!" (because usually Sandy is a big teddy bear.) Of course I had to turn that into a mug!
Meanwhile, in the maternity ward...
NO KID YET! But her udder looks a bit bigger today. One of my goatie friends thinks she'll pop the kid on January 8th.
Buttercup caught herself a mouse today!
Keaton wanted to steal it from her but she was having none of it! She hissed until he left.
I spent some time with the pigs this evening administering belly rubs and brushing their coats. Henry is still not amused with his new lot in life but he is doing okay! He was pouting for the photo, but then he got up and starting rooting around in the hay and acting like a normal pig. I also fed him supper from my hand. He is super gentle, unlike the rest of the porcine hooligans!
Rudy got another belly rub too!
And after supper, we played a game I got for Christmas from my friend Ronna...
...because we don't have enough real-life LFE ON THE FARM!
And he beat me! The b*stard! :)
Have a great evening!
What a beautiful family! Can't wait for the new baby pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou have been lucky with weather this year. we've had 8 weeks with snow and cold...not one little thaw. Yes, it's hard to take when there's such an extreme.
ReplyDeleteBeginner's luck.
ReplyDeleteStay warm! Hoping for a safe goat delivery.
ReplyDeleteBrrrrr! The weather is turning colder here too and I don't like it not one bit.
ReplyDeleteHappy Gotcha Day to Emily - how wonderful she ended up in your home. Good luck with the impending birth. I hope everyone stays warm and comfortable.
Sounds chilly - hope you are all cosy and warm. Your cat photos always make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI still don´t miss it. We are having minus7 here and lots of snow mixed with light freezing rain and now way of driving in this condition. But by Thursday the promised us warmer temps. 4 days of winter condition are unusual here. Hugs to you all.
ReplyDeleteEmily is beautiful sitting there in the sun. Lucky kitty that gets dropped off at your place. I wouldn't mind being dropped off there either. :) I LOVE the four kitties on the chair!
ReplyDeleteJust think - since Penny is delivering this year, her baby will be a leap goat!
ReplyDeleteLove to see everyone snug as bugs. Mootie & Pip...hahaha! And Alex :) I'm sitting at the mouse-house window watching ten squirrels in the old maple. They are taking over. Lovely shot of Emily. She reminds me so much of Sierra. We miss her so, so much. xx

ReplyDeleteI'm just sitting here smiling. Thanks for that! The photo of the cat-tail hat is priceless. For animals that won't put up with a lot, cats sure do put up with a lot!
ReplyDeleteOMG this was great!!! That last photo and the caption, I am cracking up! I was thinking that there is never a dull moment at your place! The kitties are darling! When that lamb is born, you MUST name it "Elvis" if it is born on Friday catchatwithcarenandcody
