I have been a bit negligent about posting poultry pix as of late, and the feathered gang wanted me to rectify that appalling situation. So here you go!
Zydeco the Partridge Chantecler rooster, doing a little dance in the sand I used to fill a mudhole!
Errol Flynn, our Barred Rock rooster. He is top rooster now!
My beloved Charlotte, who along with Nadia turns FOUR on July 9th! I think we should have a birthday party for them. They are, sadly, the only two remaining of our original 13 Sex-Links hens. But they both seem content, if geriatric. Here's a post from the day we got them.
Charlotte is looking pretty good now that her moult is finished!
And here's Lauren the Ameraucana sitting in the grit/oyster shell bowl.
Penelope turns three this summer!
Mama Emma and her little one. Fingers crossed the chick is NOT a rooster.
Penelope looking pretty.
Everyone approves of the new enclosed bird run. Some approve too much. Amy Winehouse is demonstrating his delight with Bianca, front right. Oops.
We are still cleaning all the crap out of the run, and I need to figure out what to do with the ground. It used to be grass until the post-hole digging started. The crazy amount of rain we had in June did not help either. Any suggestions for what to put on the ground? It would be nice to have grass again. Most of the run is under wire "roofing", so it gets enough light for things to grow.
Penelope wanted another photo!
And here's Amelia the Ameraucana, enjoying some watermelon. Her "beard" is all pink from watermelon juice!
McGuinty, my very handsome Chantecler rooster.
Guineas on patrol. Going left...
...going right. They are getting slightly more used to me!
So. Much. LUMBER!!!!
That ramshackle little building is the sturdy work of Gordon. It's where we put the ducklings with their mama for a month or so after they've hatched.
There's a gate at either end of the run. Very useful!
Watermelon is very popular with everyone. This run does a good job of keeping everyone safe in the day. Nobody escapes any more. At night they go into their respective coops. The guineas are happily bunking with the chickens.
One of the pools has a leak, alas. We'll buy another one!
Bianca (white duck), Amy Winehouse (yes, a boy duck!) and Robert Downey Jr. One of you readers came up with Robert's name, but I forget who! Anyway, it's perfect!
Now I need to finish cleaning up the debris and pretty this up somehow!
