We're having quite the snowstorm today, but the northeast US is going to get worse than us, that's for sure.
The birds were all very hungry and busy at the feeders today!

Very cold and windy today. This poor little male Downy Woodpecker is very wind-blown.

American Tree Sparrow hanging out.
This little female Downy Woodpecker hung out here for ages.
The turkeys came for a visit too....
..then saw me at the kitchen window and fled across the neighbouring field!
A little Redpoll
Two American Tree Sparrows taking a break.
And another Redpoll chowing down!
Have a great weekend. :)
Oh Natalie, these are beautiful. The white background really brings out the subject. Stunning photos. The American Tree Sparrows with the apricot hats are so beautiful. The poor things today really worked to get to their feeders. I know you love winter but I am longing for Spring along with the birds. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI think my best bird shots have been the ones taken in snowstorms this winter! You're right, it's the contrast I think. We have so many Tree Sparrows.
DeleteI think spring will be here soon. I am hearing a lot of birdsong out there!
Thanks for keeping them stoked up.
ReplyDeleteWe buy them deluxe seed mix! Only the best for our feathered friends. ;)
DeleteGorgeous pics! I have a soft spot for birdies...they got extra rations today.
ReplyDeleteJane x
You are a good woman, Jane!!
DeleteYou really caught a lot of very excellent shots today. The little downy really looks bedraggled.
ReplyDeletePoor little thing was just clinging to that tree in the wind for ages.
DeleteWhat a nice variety of birds you get at your feeders. Beautiful photographs!
ReplyDeleteWe do very well here for birdlife. Lots of woods, fields, creek, pond, river... good bird habitat. Plus free meals! ;)
DeleteYou get my prize for 'Bird photographer of 2013'.
ReplyDeleteI have a book, by a late friend, of all the birds that came to her garden. She was totally absorbed by her little friends, and her book is fascinating. But her photographic illustrations are dreadful... if only you'd been there to help!
Thank you Cro!!
DeleteI would love to do a book like that. Hmmmm....
Great shots, poor little things all fluffed up against the cold. Love the woodpeckers!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how they survive, really!
DeleteYou take these fantastic photos from inside the house, through the kitchen window?
ReplyDeleteMostly my office windows, which are rather dirty!
DeleteWow! Natalie!! you got some really wonderful photos. I LOVE birds!!!! That first one is my favorite. I'm so glad you are kind to feed the poor birds who would otherwise might be hungry with so much snow around.
ReplyDeleteI feed them all winter, and we have a heated birdbath too. Anything to help! They have a tough time out there in winter. And it's so nice to watch them at the feeders.
DeleteYou should photograph for National Geographic! These are amazing of the birds that came for a visit--I actually felt like I was looking out the window with you. Stay warm, XOXO
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed them Susan. I really love photographing animals (and bugs!)
DeleteToo cute! You have a great eye when it comes to wildlife photography.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ahab. I think having patience helps too. :) And a digital camera!
DeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteBirds are so endearing!
DeleteAwesome pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra!
DeleteOh, those are just lovely photographs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Isobelle!
DeleteI miss feeding them, but I don,t miss the snowstorms.
ReplyDeleteBy now you must be graving for summer. And by the way, how is
the black cat? Does she/he becomes a new family member?
Have a great weekend, too.
The black cat has disappeared again. :( I am wondering if he is just off making his rounds... I hope he comes back!
DeleteNatalie, your photos are just wonderful, love the blurry snow flakes as they are blown around.
ReplyDeleteThat poor little Blue Jay in the first pic, looks like he's holding on to the branch with all he's got.
Love the Woodpecker too.....what an array of birdlife.......just beautiful.
I'm sure the cats were happy to stay inside in this weather and leave the birds to it........
Claire :}
Thank you Claire! It's nice that we get so many pretty birds at our feeders.
DeleteThanks LBM!
