They litter my house...

...cats, yes they do. They're bloody EVERYWHERE!

This is a typical pose for Julius in the evening. He squeezes up against me on the couch, then waits for me to start massaging his chest and belly. Usually my arm ends up enveloped in his legs...

He goes into a bit of a trance when you do this!

Meanwhile, in my office...

I swear this is the year that fugly wallpaper is getting stripped! The cats do enjoy my work table, as they are watched over by the cartoon-character tape dispenser and a squid made by a woman in Chiapas, Mexico.

Alex is offended that this photo makes his butt look fat!

Sweet Emily keeping  a wary eye on me.

And then she drifts back into her nap!

Alex keeps an eye on the surroundings.

And Naomi watches bird TV.

And on a completely un-cat-related note, I ordered something fragile for my hubby's birthday tomorrow. It arrived looking like this..

Whatever postal worker bashed it in right over the fragile worker did at least take the time to tape the damage on the box. But I remain hugely unimpressed. There were fragile stickers like this all over the box. I figure they are just seen as targets. Fortunately the sender packed everything very carefully, so nothing was broken, no thanks to the post office.

On a brighter note, tomorrow we're going out for supper and a comedy show in Ottawa to celebrate The Bearded One's special day.

Hope you all have a good weekend! It was -29C/-20F when we got up this morning. It's supposed to warm up tomorrow, the go back to the deep freeze on Sunday. We're buying some extra heat lamps for the ducks and chickens!

  3. Over dinner in your kitchen some day, I will tell you about my most recent pet-sitting for a home with 2 cats and 2 dogs. How many disfunctional things can you think of? I am not a cat person. I love your cats.

  4. Your office looks like my loveseat. I've been off sick, so they kitties have enjoyed the daytime company - but why they all have to sit on the loveseat with me at the same time - when there's a perfectly good three-seater couch a foot away....

  5. I love extra long whiskers on a cat. Alex's qualify as a little longer than extra long. Wixers, as my niece used to say.

  8. Happy Birthday Gordon! I love the cat photos; I could probably take ones of Rosie all day because she's so darn cute, but then, I'd never get anything done.
It's cold here too and very foggy! We're suppose to have some sun later (yeah, right!) and maybe next week it will get warmer when the rain returns.
Stay warm and have a wonderful time at your show, XOXO

  9. I don't know why you need to go to Ottawa to see any type of shows when you have 4 cats, in the house, who provide you with minute-by-minute entertainment. And it's free! But have a great meal and a good time. Happy Birthday Gordon!

  11. Hey Natalie, I was wondering how the chooks and ducks coped with all the snow and cold.....
Your office must be a bit of a suntrap, the cats look very happy and Julius could almost double for out Tigger, not
just in looks but behaviour as well, hehe........

I think you're right , FRAGILE stickers must mean take less care than normal....glad everything was OK.
Hope you had a great night out and Gordon loved his pressie.....

    1. I love those fluffy orange kitties!

Our ducks and chickens have draft-free coops and heat lamps. That's usually enough to keep the temps above freezing when it's really bitter outside. During the winter, I let them wander around the (enclosed) lower barn in the daytime, except on really bitter days like today, and tomorrow (when the high is supposed to be -20C!) They have heated water buckets so they always have fresh water. They seem to do quite well this way. Some people don't even bother with heat lamps but I think it's much nicer for them this way.
