Get yer ducklings!

By popular request, I am satisfying your duckling cravings for today...

There are five of them but I only got four in the photo!

This little guy has four symmetrical spots on his back. I am looking forward to seeing his adult markings!

This batch is much more wary of me than the last. I figure that's because they have two fiercely-protective mamas looking after them, who lash out at me if I even look sideways at the babies! Ronna was much more laid-back and trusting of me.

Happy Sunday! Hope you enjoy this cuteness fix.

    1. It's hard for me not to wander down there and spend time with them.

  2. Well...you're a bit nosy,Knatolee. Maybe the mamas are afraid of so much publicity for the duckies. They're so cute. One might get pinched out by a visiting stranger. I'm not sure I could resist if I were walking your way.

    1. That's okay, Claude! I'd give you a duckling. She could live in your bathtub!

Why do cute pictures make me sad? Am I alone in this? Scottish gloom versus transatlantic positivity? It troubles me. I need to work on it.

    1. Hmmm, no idea. Are you gloomy because you can't dunk them in orange sauce and eat them?

Actually no. I am gloomy because people do dunk them in orange sauce and eat them, honestly, and because they are so fragile in a dangerous world, and because (like us)they grow adult then grow old so fast, and get ill, and...

Maybe I need a bit of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to deal with cuteness in a more positive way.

Ugliness... That I can handle, which is fortunate or shaving in the mornings would depress me too :)

  9. This makes me miss my ducks, which I haven't had in years. I suspect this has to do with being petless for the first time in ... Actually I'm not sure I've ever been petless before.

The ducklings, dogs, chickens, bees... reclusive cats(???) all help. :) Thank you!
