Today has been frustrating, with thunderstorms and a power failure that has already last several hours and is supposed to go on until the wee hours of tomorrow. Being on a well, we don't have water when we don't have power, so it's frustrating. We really need a back-up generator.
I am still trying to get my new computer set up, and pictures uploaded. For now, here is a little duckling video to keep you going!
Very, very cute!!
ReplyDeleteExcuse me what were you saying?.... I couldn't hear a word!!! Those cuties captured all of attention :) totally adorable!!!!
ReplyDeleteTHey are highly distracting to me, too. I'd much rather be sitting with ducklings than sitting in my office!
DeleteI'd have to quit my job & kiss them on their little duck lips all day long.
DeleteMomma does , and babies follow. TOO STINKING CUTE!!
ReplyDeleteJane x
I could watch them for hours!
DeleteSorry to hear about the power and water situation. Thanks for the cute video!
ReplyDeletePower came back on at 5 am. I woke up at 4 am worrying about the contents of my fridge and freezer, but the ice we bought last night did the trick!
DeleteYou still can put an old-fashioned well pump on your well head. Just save enough to prime it. The bucket brigade still works if you have surface water nearby. Just sayin'. After following you recently I feel a need for quackers coming on.
ReplyDeleteJono, we have a dug well in the milkhouse attached to our barn, but we haven't been able to get it working yet. I do think it's fixable, though, so we need to call in someone who knows what they're doing. I know it worked in the great Ice Storm of 1998, because the former owners got all their water from that well during the two-week power outage. Our other well (for the house) is drilled.
DeleteRight now we use a sump pump to pump water through a house down to the ducks and chickens. Great until the power goes out!
Good grief I love your blog. Hope the night isn't too rough on you guys. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteMore duckling cuteness coming! Hey, we survived Hurricane Juan in 2003, we can survive anything! ;)
DeleteNow that's cute in a bucket! Is there some way you can transfer that to aerosol so that it can sprayed around a room at will?
ReplyDeleteI can empathise with you about the electrickery and water. Once lost ours for five days when I lived in Norfolk - I just couldn't get "them" to understand or care that no power = no pump = no water (and no fridge, no freezer, no burglar alarm). Hope your's is back asap or sooner!
We really need to get a generator. Our whole house is wired to run off one! WHen the ice storm hit here in 1998, the former owners were without power (in winter) for two weeks. Ugh!!!
DeleteI like the idea of being able to spray duckling cuteness around a room!
- your's - ??? I am obviously in need of coffee.
ReplyDeleteHope YOURS is back asap! Ruddy punk-tuation!
You keep me on my grammatical toes!
DeleteI keep watching this video again and again. The babies sure learn how to eat in a hurry! How often do you have to fill that huge bowl with food?
ReplyDeleteGlad the power is back. My family in Quebec all got a generator AFTER the ice storm. Don't wait too long, Knat.
Those ducks are just adorable. When mama dips into the feed, you can almost hear her going, "Oh, yum-yum-yummy!"
