When I was hunched over my computer today, working on tax stuff, Naomi decided to curl up on my shoulder...
...she stayed there for a long! She is our only shoulder-kitty, and she's the sweetest cat I have ever had. I love it when she snuggles in like this. Handy that my MacBook has a camera!
And here are a couple from March that I forgot to post...
I don't know what Alex and Julius are saying to each other, but it's nothing good! Gordon was oblivious, as per usual.
Here's Emily again. And I took a lot of self-portraits with cats when I was sick last month! :)
We had a bit of an adventure here last night. Emily has developed a fascination with the toilet. Yesterday at bedtime, the male human in the household, was, er, standing and relieving himself when Emily ran up and jumped on the toilet seat. I heard an grunt of exasperation emanante from the bathroom. Let's just say Emily got a little shower from above. On my advice, Gordon put pee-sprinkled Emily in the bathtub and turned the shower on her while he held her still and gave her a rinse. She didn't make a peep and seemed to enjoy her whole underwater experience, making me think that Deb from Just Cats and Trish from Katnip Lounge are right, and Miss Emily is all or part Bengal!
And a duck question: I am a little concerned about where Ronna the Muscovy duck has made her nest in the duck run. It's right the feeder, a high-traffic area. Yesterday I saw Hannibal walk right across the eggs while Ronna was up having a stretch! She is still sitting on them but it seems like her nest gets disturbed every day. I'm wondering if it will be all right there, or if I just try and partition it off a bit, or even move it. When the ducklings hatch (presuming they do), we will be putting them all in their own duck house, away from the other ducks until they are large enough to fend for themselves with the drakes. I'm just leaving things as they are for now but I'm not sure having the nest where it is is the best thing for Ronna and her eggs. It seems to get kicked around a fair bit!
Have a good one, and watch out for kittens with toilet obsessions.
When your post mentioned the loo and a feline emergency my mind raced ahead and pictured a flush and a desperate grab at two disappearing hind legs being involved ...
ReplyDeleteWell, I was a bit worried about that when she was smaller!
DeleteIs the feeder movable? Or maybe Ronna will move with the eggs? I love the pic with you and Naomi. It is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteWe could move the feeder, but we'd have to put a new hook in the ceiling. I'm thinking about this! :)
DeleteGLad you liked the pic. She is such a nice little cat.
Love the picture of you an Naomi. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteWould a mama duck move her eggs by herself to a safer zone? Is it wise for humans to touch them at this stage?
She doesn't care if I handle her eggs. Well, she's not amused, but the just gets back on them and gives me a dirty look!!
DeleteNote to Gordon...kneel don't stand. Learned from years of experience with nosey kitties!
ReplyDeleteJane x
Excellent advice!!
DeletePoor Emily! I hope she learned her lesson after that unfortunate golder shower.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! I don't think she did, but Gordon is certainly being more careful.
DeleteWhat a hilarious story about the toilet, the human male of the household and the kitten. You guys might have to start shutting doors to prevent recurrences of such events. Great pic of you and Naomi.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't stop laughing. Poor Gordon!
DeleteI agree with everyone on the photo of you and Naomi. Emily is quite the character.
ReplyDeleteShe is quite something, I have to say!
DeleteI hope Gordon was able to stop mid-stream!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love that picture of you and Shoulder Kitty. That is too precious!
He didn't stop fast enough! :) ANd glad you like the photo. SHe is such a sweet little cat.
DeleteThat's more like it! You blog needs constant cat posts!
ReplyDeleteI'll work on that, but the ducks, dogs and chickens might get jealous!
DeleteI am just so glad that Ronna is nesting faaaaaaaaar away from the toilet :)
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA! ME TOO!!
DeleteTell Gordon to sit down next time around. Poor Emily.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Emily minded at all!!!
DeleteNow that reminds me of the time my neighbour chap had to jump out of a bath to attend to a burst pipe in his kitchen. As he knelt in under the sink, stark naked, his young cat approached from behind his open legs and decided to take a sharp-clawed whack at the strange dangly things bobbling about between the legs at cat eye level. The sudden searing pain caused poor man to rise up rapidly, whacking the back of his head against the underside of the metal sink unit and cutting himself quite badly. I think it took a bit of effort to explain to his later arriving wife just exactly why, having been left to enjoy a quiet bath, he had acquired bleeding balls and a cut across the back of his head. Gordon is lucky Emily did not attack the source of the outrage.
ReplyDeleteOW OW OW OW OW OW OW!!!! I have warned Gordon to exercise greater caution around the young clawed one!!!!
DeleteOW!
