Revenge of the Fuh-luffy Fah-lafel Cat

That's one of my nickanmes for Julius: Fuh-luffy Fah-lafel, Now, to put it lightly, Julius does not think highly of dogs.

Right, Julius?

He takes great delight in stealing their beds.

And they are always too scared of him to kick him off.

Note: I just got new dark brown denim covers for the dog beds, at the exact same time that the dogs starting blowing coat like there's no tomorrow. After these photos were taken, I washed the beds and they are now considerably less hairy!

"Oh my Dog, Tristan, that cat who hates us is on my bed again!"

"I noticed. I'm not going to tell him to leave. I'm plenty comfy on this rock-hard wood floor!"

"Mummy... help us!"

Eventually I feel sorry enough for the dogs that I extract the cat(s). Sometimes it's not just Julius. Alex, Naomi and Emily have all been known to join in the dog-bed hogging.

On a different note, Gordon and I have started running. I have missed going to the gym and need some aerobic activity in my life. I bought the "Get Running" app for my iPhone and we're on our fourth week of building up to 30 minutes straight running. Today we ran for 16 minutes out of 30 (2 x 5 mins and 2 x 3 minutes(, and I have to say, we are enjoying this more than we thought we would. I always loved my gym classes but I have never attempted a running program. This one is working out very well, and I'm inspired by a friend who is 60 and now running 15 km a day. She just finished her first 10K run for charity last month and did really well.

Sometimes we run outside and sometimes we do it at the local indoor track. Gordon usually just keeps pace with me but today he took off and lapped me on our final five-minute run. Go Gordon go!

  4. Dogs are very polite creatures and often indulge cats, especially once a cat's mind goes and he/she forgets where they are ...

    1. LOL! Dogs are much more forgiving than cats, too.

    1. They are very good! They both turn 10 this year and Tristan is really slowing down. Bittersweet!

  7. Now Julius is definitely the cat that knows his place.... at the very top of the pile, especially if the pile is of clean laundry and he is moulting!

  10. Apparently, Julius has not been declawed and that's why he commands such respect. None of my three cats are declawed either. I decided long ago that the procedure is needlessly painful and unnecessary.

    1. Yep, they all have their claws. But Julius is the only one whose claws I don't clip. He has a hissy fit every time I try. I started cutting the claws of the other three when they were young so they are used to it! But yes, dogs respect cat claws. :)

    1. I wish I could take credit but I stole it from somewhere else. Today there was dog hair blowing all over the yard after my friends gave the dogs a good scratching. Moulting season!
