You know you want it...

Want what? A duckling fix!
The shame of it is, I have been too frigging busy and this pictures are now TWO WEEKS old, and the ducklings are about 200% bigger. I took more photos today that I will attempt to post in a timely fashion, but first I need to catch up on the cuteness backlog.

Mama and her brood enjoyed the evening sun two weeks ago.

Not to mention a little relaxation!

Mama and her adorable sleeping baby.

And here's Squishy having a good old clean-up!

Stretch out that leg!

She's very thorough!

Nothing like a little nap before bedtime.

Those aren't ducks in the background! (But that IS Amy Winehouse on the right.)

I love my ducks. Have I mentioned that I love my ducks?

Ah yes, the cute little wing pinfeathers currently causing the duck run to look like the Texas chainsaw massacre. I gave another duckling a warm bath  today and set her up on the front porch for a day or two of "Safe from the voracious, cannibalizing beaks of her brothers and sisters" time.  Somebody else will be getting a "spa treatment" tomorrow! Sigh.

Cute little snoozers.

These little girls are total darlings. I had one snuggling on my lap today.

This is Ronna, named after my friend. I think she (the duck!!)  is bulking up on plumage for winter. She's looking lovely!

Good night to all!

  3. Awww. It's so cute when the ducks sleep in a cluster.

The ducklings have such tiny wings. Is that a characteristic of all Muscovies, or just of ducklings?

  4. TTPT, my friend Eugene says ducks are always smiling. He's right!

    Jams, more coming!

Ahab, that's a good question. I too was surprised at how small their wings are. They are getting a little bigger now, but still I htink they are mostly feathers! I guess the muscles are pretty strong.

They still pile on each other to sleep, but they are starting to separate into two or three piles at night because they are so big. :)

  8. Hey Natalie, your duckies are sooo sweet, I ♥ them.......

Who would've thought that they be quite so unpleasant to their siblings?!
I hope you don't have any more of this behaviour as you have quite a few to look after. What do you plan to do with them all?
Have had a lovely wander and catchup on some older posts and your Fall/Autumn pics are lovely.

Thanks for stopping by and saying 'HI',

Many years ago I was a guest at a Medieval style banquet at Trinity College Cambridge where we were each served with a plate bearing one duckling, one baby chicken and one gosling all lathered in a rich burgundy sauce. Yum, Yum. One of about seven courses for us to enjoy with just fingers and slapping lips while the Medieval singers sang and the jesters jested. Thanks for the memory Knatolee.

  13. Marylee, me neither! It's fun watching their feather patterns emerge.

    Claude: OUI! :)

    Elisabeth, happy to oblige.

Claire, they seem to be smartening up as of today. They aren't aggressive, really just too NIBBLY. We are, ahem, keeping them all unless someone wants a couple for pets.

Andrew, you will NOT be soaking my ducklings in burgundy sauce.

CogDis, not me! Before I got them, I had no idea how endearing they could be. And some of them will now sit quietly in my lap now. SO cute. (Hush, Andrew!)
