So, some of you guessed right! We have just added six goats to our menagerie.
Two bucks and four does. The boys are just tethered until tomorrow, because we are teaching them about electric fencing!
The boys will also be separated from the girls until they are neutered! Because...
Soon enough, we will have more goats. This gal is pregnant!
Somebody also botched the job of de-horning her when she was little so we will have to have that seen to as her horns are aimed to grow into her head. She is very sweet!
As is this one! They are a mix of Boer goats and Nubians, as I understand it.
These are their temporary quarters. We have divided the horse pasture in half for now and put in calf huts and electric fencing. Before winter, we will fence in a separate pasture for them and put in a permanent shelter.
They were seized by the OSPCA from a very unpleasant situation and have been through a lot, but are very sweet.
Hopefully they will settle in quickly. In the meantime, I need to take a crash course in goat midwifery!
I have a friend with Boer goats who is giving me advice.
Lovely girls! We are really pleased with all of them!
