Birds that aren't chickens or ducks

We've had Northern Cardinals hanging around for a few weeks now. Yesterday I saw FOUR at once, two boys and two girls. They are such beautiful birds.

Mrs. Cardinal is a little windblown!

Mr. Cardinal is very flashy!

American Tree Sparrow.

Bossy Blue jay. I do love these guys!

A Downy Woodpecker makes off with a peanut while a Junco watches in amazement.

Goldfinch in winter plumage.

I took these through my office window with my Nikon 70 - 210 mm lens. The seal is broken on the window, so it's a bit filmy, making it hard to get a really clear photo. But I was pleased with how these turned out.

Have a great weekend!

  3. These are plenty clear enough for me. You really have a very active feeder with a variety if species.

  5. Once again; beautiful photos. Not quite cold enough to feed our birds yet, but I do anyway!

  6. They came out really well Knat.I wish we got that range of birds in our garden but for some reason we rarely see birds actually landing.

  7. You've captured some beauties! I am amazed how their "western" counterparts look different, especially the Jay. I love bird watching; it brings back such great memories with my dad; naming each one at the feeders like you have. XOXO

  8. Lovely bird shots. Must try a 'through the window' photo, I keep warm and they don't get scared off!

  9. What a nice assortment of birds. Since I only put out cracked corn and bread for the turkeys, I don't get many birds now.

Great photos! I don't think shooting a window made any quality difference. I especially like the mussed up cardinal in the first one.

  15. We love the birds, too. But I don,t miss the snow a bit. Especially when you don,t
have to turn the heat on. We have not done it till the day (15. Dec. 2013) we moved into our new apartment in Pforzheim. We love it!!!!!!!

  18. You should be pleased with those pictures. I was wondering how you got such great close-ups then I read that you took them through a window! Well done.
