Our Leopard gecko Kartini died last night. She reached a rather astounding age of 19 years. She lived in four provinces and crossed Canada in our car twice, and was a good little pet who never caused us any problems. I think it was just her time to go. She stopped eating Thursday and that was it. Everything just shut down and she died quietly under her heat lamp. I took her out last evening to see the sun one more time, because I sensed that she was ready to go.
I'll write a bit more later, but here's a toast to a wonderful little pet who will be missed very much. She had been with us for all the years of our marriage...
Godspeed, Kartini. Enjoy Heaven with endless sunshine and warmth.

I'm so sorry to hear about this, Nat. Well done on sensing she needed to see the sun one last time. That gesture alone tells us pretty much all we need to know about how Kartini lived such a long and happy life with you. And what a beautiful picture of her as well. I'm sorry I never got to meet her.

ReplyDeleteA lovely tribute for Kartini! So many of these little pets are abandoned so early in their lives because people bought them on a whim. It's lovely to hear of dear little pets that live good, long lives. xoxoxo
