Feline chowder!
Kidding. First of all, let me say that I am NOT encouraging Emily to walk on the stovetop and counters. She is EVERYWHERE these days, a little crazy-kitty. I have been making a lot of sugar syrup for my new bees lately, and have been leaving my canner out.
This morning, Emily decided of her own accord that it look like a nice place for a cat to sit in.
And when she was done with the pot, she checked out the sink...
Never a dull moment around here!
On another note, please spare some good thoughts for our 19-year-old leopard gecko, Kartini. Gordon took her to the reptile vet last Monday because she has been having some dry skin/shedding issues. She seemed a little better but all of a sudden she's not wanting to eat and she seems to have lost weight even in the past few days. I get the feeling that it's just her time. I hope I'm wrong, but 19 is pretty darn old for a leopard gecko. Anyway, she could use some soothing thoughts sent her way. She doesn't seem to be in discomfort, so I'm not rushing her back to the vet, but I sense that she's tired.
Have a good weekend!
I find turning the water on while they are in the sink cures them of that curiously very quickly (unless they are "special" like my old cat Kobi who wanted you to turn it on so he could drink from it"
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think she looks absolutely delicious in that pot!
I'll have to dig up the pictures I have of the cat who walked through my freshly iced brownies.
Emmily is OBSESSED with water!!!
DeleteI would love to see your cat/brownie debacle photos.
Oh, how awful for you. I'm hopeful Kartini has more time left to her. Should she not, you'll always know you gave her the best life a nineteen-year-old Leopard Gecko ever had. So sorry.
ReplyDeleteThank you Deven, you are very kind. :)
DeleteAw..Natalie, first I want to say I hope that little Gecko gets better. I have no idea how long a Gecko lives but I'm sure little Kartini would like to stay on a little longer with you. Good thoughts for her. Now, Emily has quite the smug look on her face.I'm pretty sure she knows she shouldn't be on the stove and that's just why she's there. Audrey is just like that, too. Bad to the bone. I'm always taking her off the screens.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I have to remove Emily from screens too!
DeleteAnd thank you for the kind words on the gecko. 19 years is a great lifespan so I take comfort from that.
If sweet Kartini is tired , perhaps she will just fall asleep on a warm rock, and gently pass away knowing she was loved. It's the ending I'd like to have (even the warm rock).
ReplyDeleteJane x
And in fact that's exactly what she did, fell asleep on her rock under the heat lamp. She was loved!
DeleteThis is Scouty's worst nightmare...being turned into STEW!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for Kartini; I hope it's just a spell.
THanks KL!
DeleteEmily is contributing her sweetness to the sugar syrup for the bees :)
ReplyDeleteI really really really want to see Kartini, and yes I would be praying for her!
Thank you Pasha!
DeleteEmily is perfectly normal. Cats love to try out different spaces. She has the most gorgeous markings! Our Bridget likes to snap at water from the kitchen tap.
ReplyDeleteI just saw your post on fb...RIP Kartini
I can't get over Emily's markings, and she is so long, lean and lithe.
DeleteOne of my cats snuggled in my bowl of fruits. I kept getting her out and rinsing my fruits. I think she liked the smell. She also drank from the tub tap. My fault for always letting it drip. Emily is spicing your life!
ReplyDeletePoor little gecko. You'll miss her so...There is a Paradise for our loved pets. RIP Kartini
Thank you Claude!!
DeleteCats just can's resist an empty container. (Check out the picture on my sidebar, for example.) Sorry about your gecko. My son had a very large iguana for many years and I "lizard-sat" when he was on vacation. My three cats didn't know what to make of it!
ReplyDeleteAn iguana would be a bit large for a cat to take on! :) Thanks, Ms Sparrow.
