Well, I can't quite get my head around that one! 2012, how did that happen? It seems like only yesterday that we were living in Nova Scotia, eating lobster and awaiting the apoocalypse as to we celebrated the arrival of the year 2000.
Regardless, we had a great time over chez Ronna and Richard with our friends Carolyn and Steve last night.
Happy New Year! Ronna's folk-art Mountie was keeping a close eye on my alcohol consumption. Despite appearances to the contrary, it was minimal.
Ronna and Richard put on a fine, delicious spread of munchies...
I love Ronna's coffee table. It is made up of typesetting blocks. Very cool!
Caviar and sour cream, anyone?
Curried devilled eggs, very yum!
Cream cheese, yummy spreads and crackers.
Angels and devils on horseback. The angels were water chestnuts wrapped in bacon; the devils were prunes stuffed with almonds wrapped in bacon. It was tough not to hog them all for myself!
Carolyn and Steve brought along delicious phyllo-pastry wrapped cheese concoctions, and we brought chocolate fondue and maple cream fondue...
I think strawberries are the best for dipping, but the chocolate marbled poundcake chunks were good too!
And Ronna took a picture of me...
..taking a picture of Gordon. Here was my result:
That Mountie just would not let me party hearty!
Oreo got comfy with her mommy by the fire.
I got creative with miniature marshmallows and channelled my inner rabbit.
The masks came out at midnight!
Gordon and I didn't get to sleep until 2:30 am. Considering I've been falling asleep at 9 pm lately, that was pretty impressive. Then this morning we had two phone calls before 10:00 am!! Zzzzz...
We had a great time last night! Thank you, Ronna and Richard.
Hope 2012 is a wonderful year for all of you, and thank you so much for reading my blog and leaving so many great comments. I appreciate that more than you can imagine!

ReplyDeleteAch I hate the silly system that makes it look like I made a comment and then thought better of it (as if) when all I really did was somehow post the same comment twice. Well I didn't, but the silly system did.
ReplyDeleteThat is an unbelievably gorgeous and tasty-looking spread! Happy New Year, Nat! From one light-weight to another. ; )
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Natalie and Gordon! Wishing you all the best in 2012.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Natalie!
ReplyDeleteDamn, I forgot to curry my devilled eggs this (last) year. Look great! I was (cue tiny violin) the only one awake in the entire house (of three other people) at midnight . . . long enough to hear what sounded like a bomb or RPG nearby that was loud enough to set off car alarms . . . and then the usual chorus of gunshots (this IS Oakland, California, after all) and the resulting patter of lead rain on tarred roofs . . . yes, I remember 1999>2000 and my hoard of dried and canned food, my windup radio and flashlight and high anticipation of the second the world would blink out . . . but regrettably didn't.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2012!
looks like a scene from that Nicole Kidman/tom cruise movie!!
