2011: A Year In Ducks

My gift to you: a new duck music video!

  1. Loved it. I love anything involving your ducks or chickens. I have two questions, however: who were the two ducks cuddling in the bucket, and whose manly crow was that at the end of the video?

  2. That was just too cute.

  3. Ahab: Amy Winehouse (who needs a new name, as she is a he) and one of the no-name girl ducks. I need to work on names, stat!

And, uh, the quacking and crowing were courtesy of iMovie sound effects. :)

Deb, glad you liked it. I LOOOOVE my ducks.

  4. Fabulous! I like the way it switched from videos of the ducks now, to when they were younger, then older, then back - in other words, not sequential. Good choice in music, too. What a great start to the year. Thanks.

  5. We are Cats, and we want to eat those ducks. That is all.

  6. Evlyn, I tend to get all free-flow when I make a video! :)

Katnip Loungers, I'd love to see you kitties take on my Muscovies! Even my DOGS are afraid of them (but they do like to eat their poo!)

  7. Large, or small, they are the cutest little things. No wonder you love them so much. Lovely film.

  8. Very nice! I wonder if I could teach my chickens to swim... that pool looks like a lot of ducky fun. Happy New Year!!!

  10. Me again, Natalie. Just wanted to wish you luck with the kitten. Is it really teeny? If so, I'm thinking there may be more or perhaps it is from the closest farm. (barn) The poor thing. I hope it uses the box you have placed for it. I hate when animals are out in the cold. I worry all the time about the feral cats down the road. We can only do so much for them, though. Good luck.

  11. Just when I needed it!

I'm a bit duck-wacky, actually. The diving ducks that show up for the winter on our pond are my favorites: pied grebes, wigeons, teals, and my rock stars, the hooded mergansers. Cutest things you ever saw. Fortunately, I get to watch them all winter by just picking up the binoculars at my kitchen window. Now, if I got to play with them? I'd never get the blahs.

I got my daily smile - laughed out loud at the blow dryer shots. Best duck movie ever!!!

  14. Me again. Joy of joys. She's in and out of the cold. I guess you have sexed her as I think you said 'she'. When the fostered kittens were 4-5 weeks old I put them on a kitten soft food (many brands out there) and added a bit of warm water to their meals. Made it easier for them to eat it. I started with Performatrin kitten but Wellness or Natural Balance etc. has kitten canned. If she doesn't look interested put some on your finger and put it right in her mouth. She'll get it then. I also put out a small bowl of kitten crunchy food. It is now that they will explore eating dry food, too. The kitten dry is smaller and easier for them to crunch. Start with a shallow bowl and plan to clean her up a it after. She should now be able to use a litter box on her own. She will probably use the box numerous times throughout the day. Expect it to be more pasty than solid. The vet will go over the timetable for shots and whatever. I expect there are more of them out there if they have survived. Her mom may have been feral. Sad, isn't it. So glad you found her and if she was crying at your window at that age I think you have a kitten that is fiesty and determined and already intelligent. Keep us posted.
