A couple of dips in the desert

We were highly amused by the Arizonan road signs for "dips", as you will see in the video. The movie does not do justice to the intensity of some of those dips.

And really, who is the biggest dip of all? :)

  1. That looks like Goff's road off of the 41! I take it going to laughlin!

  2. THe one was Ironwood, which turned into Grant as I recall... not that I'm an expert on Tucson geography! :))

  4. Hysterical! I'd forgotten about the dips, but there they are, bracketed by saguaro. Your car conversation sounds a lot like ours when we're punchy from too much time on the road. And Mr. Knatolee seems very nice.

Oh, honey, you should see the one near us! It goes down a steep hill into a creek crossing. At the top it's like being on a roller coaster--you actually can't see where you're going until you go over the edge. Cheap thrills, anyway!

We have more than a few of those around here. And I'm not just talking about the roads. ; )

  7. Nance, Mr. Knatolee is very nice, not to mention VERY tolerant of Mrs. Knatolee and her foibles! :)

TTPT, I would love to videotape that. I haven't seen road dips like this in Canada, although for all I know they exist somewhere. I thought maybe they smooth them out here because they would be hell in winter. The snowplows would never get out of them!

CogDis, from what I've read on your blog, I believe you. We have our fair share of dips too.

  8. LOL. Reminds me a a road in North Bay we used to ride on just for the sake of feeling our stomachs lurch when we went over the dip!
