Love mah donkey! ...and my ponies. And my gardener.

I love SAUL! And he loves me. Or does he really love...

...my HAT!

He stole it off my head three times and didn't want to give it back!

Speaking of comedians...

My gardener is one! Yes, I have a gardener. I gave up dealing with the16 flowerbeds three years ago! This year I asked him to plant my veg garden for me. He did a magnificent job!

Those are sunflowers in the front. I asked for some flowers in my veg garden.

We had a cool spring and everything is a bit behind, but the hot weather has arrived so things should be picking up quickly!

Lovely purple cabbage (and gladiolas and beans!)

I'm counting on the bees to do a good job of pollinating everything!

And back in the paddock...

These two are so cute! Finney didn't steal my hat but he did seem to enjoy wearing it!

These two really love each other.

They met and bonded while in foster care last year. We had initially planned to take Esme, then Finney came  along. The OSPCA investigator convinced us to take him too, and I'm so glad she did!

They are my sweeties! And I'm training Finney so he can pull a cart. More on that in another post!

Hope you all had a great weekend and that my American friends had a happy 4th of July!

Now I KNOW I need a gardener! Or at least some help. Veg garden looks magnificent.

    1. I think you've got enough on your plate and it's fine to let the garden to go to pot!!

I also think all the barn animals need hats...

  5. Don't let Saul keep your hat. You're going to need it at the new farm stand you'll be setting up to sell all those vegetables.
    Finney and Esme are adorable!

  8. We think Saul would like his very own hat with holes for his ears, of course! It's obvious Esme and Finney are happy together.

Awesome garden! (With all your animals, I'd need a gardener, too!) Do you have to stake your gladiolas? Our strong winds make them a challenge to grow here.

    1. This is the first time I've had glads, so I will have to keep an eye on them! It's not usually too windy here in summer (winter is another story!) but we'll see!

I need to get a hat for Saul and cut earholes!

  9. Great photos! Your vegetable garden looks fantastic! I miss having one. This is our first year in our new house and with all the renovations we just didn't have time to put one in.

  12. It is so apparent that all of the animals are so happy to be in your care...lots of love in the photos.

As for your garden, I'm jealous...jealous of the bounty and that you have a gardener too! I've no space or time for a garden now but perhaps when I retire. Except by then I'll be too tired. :)

  13. Love all your animals they all seem so happy and content. Now all you need are a couple of goats to make it complete barn yard zoo for you. Garden is looking terrific wish I could have one, but live in an apartment. No room for a garden.

    1. THere are so many farmers' markets and CSAs now that you don't even need to have your own garden. Just enjoy eating! :)
