That makes 87!

As in 87 pets on the farm, not counting honey bees.

One woman (Amanda) wasn't enough for Stephan the OSPCA quail, so we got him a few more girlfriends today. At $4 each, quail girlfriends are a steal!

The minute we introduced them, he madly ran around trying to hump every single one. But they were more interested in the dirtbath.

Here's Amanda(rear) and Chantal enjoying a dust-up, while Stephan stalks them from the background...

Christina and Ashley wisely kept their distance!

Which was smart, because in no time, Stephan humped Chantal right in the dirt bath, while Amanda acted nonchalant.

Then our pervy little male-quail proceeded to watch Amanda and Chantal have a bath.

To which Chantal took exception!

This is their little house. It's actually a rabbit hutch.

In winter, it's in the garage but the rest of the year, it will be down in the outdoor duck/chicken aviary. Coturnix quail aren't quite as hardy in our temps as the chickens and ducks are.

Hope everyone is having as good a weekend as Stephan! :)

    1. Not very big. Hmm, like maybe the size of a baseball with a head? If that? The eggs are described as being the size of large olives. I'd say jumbo olives!

    1. Well, I shouldn't have been laughing at the avian rape scene going on in there, but it was pretty funny (only because they were birds, not women!) He was like a kid in a candy shop "OH MY GOD! I MUST HAVE EVERY ONE! RIGHT NOW!" Geezz!
