Sigh. Monday was Thanksgiving in Canada, and before supper at my mother-in-law's, we went out for one last kayaking adventure.
This summer we kept our kayaks down at Hybrid Marine in Summerstown, covered in a tarp when not in use.
This did not work wonders for poor Blair's lawn!
The sun was out when we started. It has been unseasonably warm the past couple of days.
Things began to cloud over as time went on, but it didn't bother us.
The fall leaves are about at their peak here now.
We met up with a nice man from Montreal who takes his dog out kayaking. He wisely put him in a lifejackets, and secures him to the kayak. What a good little dog!
All too soon, we had to go back to the marina.
Sigh.
Sigh.
Oh well, soon I'll be getting the skis and snowshoes out!
On the way home we passed this farm with a beautiful stand of hardwood trees wearing their autumn best..
And many farmers were out harvesting their crops this weekend too.
Hope all my Canadian friends had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend!
It turned fall here this week. Real fall, all colors, still on the trees. Yesterday the sun made them dazzle. Today, all clouds. Such is weather.
ReplyDeleteI love the Fall colors. We don't get a lot of it in Dallas, but some. DH always laughs at my not wanting to rake the leaves that cover the lawns. I think they're so pretty...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely activity, kayaking. It looks like it would be very meditative. Love the fall colors.
ReplyDeleteYou and Gordon are adventurers! Your Fall looks spectacular, XOXO
ReplyDeleteDon't stash those kayaks away! Bring them here. You can use them all winter.
ReplyDeleteFilled with envy here. When we owned a lake house we kayaked quite often. We still have the kayaks, but not the energy to schlep them to a nearby pond.
ReplyDeleteWe just put away our Sea Eagle tandem kayak so I feel your melancholy. Already can't wait for spring.
ReplyDeleteI noticed, while driving to my best friend's house today, that fall has suddenly exploded all over the place! Absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou could make a theme on "lasts". It does seem rather sad when we pack summer things away. I had a great Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI've never been in a kayak, but I did row in 8's so I know the feeling. Your putting away the kayaks sounds a bit like our closing the pool.... a long wait until they get used again. Happy skiing.
ReplyDeleteWell judging by the bare spot on the grass you might not have been on the water this summer as much as you might have liked. Still it all looks so much fun for a paddle on a quiet bit of water. I much miss my days canoeing on rivers and the Boundary Waters here in Minnesota. Those were the days. ...;)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos of the tranquil waters of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. I'm glad you and Gordon get to paddle there from time to time. It looks very calming and romantic! Here in New York, folks are still kayaking on the Hudson River, which will stay ice-free a little longer than the mighty Beaudette River!
