An old friend you've only just met!

Yesterday was a great day! Ronna and I took a road trip to visit our bloggy friend Deb!

Even though we hadn't met Deb in person before, it was like being with an old friend. She's just like she is on her blog: wonderful!

I managed to forget my camera (but I did have my iPhone), so many of these photos come from Ronna and Deb. If you visit Deb's blog today, you can read more about our visit.

Deb treated Ronna and me to fish and chips (and salad!) at a local pub. Delicious!

We also got to visit with Deb's lovely pets (and hubby.) 

Audrey sniffed my legs suspiciously, keeping a close eye on me...

Kane quietly watched from his comfy perch on the couch. He's 13 now. Isn't he a lovely old boy?

I tried to photograph Annie while Deb photographed me. Annie is super sweet, and Audrey's mother! Deb took Annie and her kittens in as fosters, but ended up keeping two of them. 

You can see Mr. Ed the Siamese (age 25!!!!) watching from his basket back by the woodstove. He's very handsome and I thought he looked amazing for such a senior cat.

Sierra checked me out while Ronna cuddled Annie.

That's Sierra on the table and Annie's tail... or wait, maybe it's Audrey's!

Deb made us all a "narse cuppa tea", delicious muffins, and cookies! She is the hostess with the mostess, and she sure knows how to make a good pot of tea. Being the child of Brits, I appreciate a woman who can do that properly. Don't we look elegant?

After tea, we walked around lovely Carleton Place...

The Mississippi River (the Canadian version!) is very swollen at this time of year. Sadly, they are ripping out that lovely woodlot on the left and plonking down a butt-ugly modern condo building. Ugh.

That's quite the weather.

We had a great time walking around, visiting the shops and soaking up the spring sun.

We also drove up the road to quaint Almonte. This is the birthplace of James Naismith, inventor of basketball. Yes, a Canadian invented basketball, although he later claimed American citizenship.

And when we were leaving, Deb thoughtfully gave me and Ronna each a lovely gift basket. Look at the yummy apple butter, tea, and kitty treats! And I love the chicken tile and hen egg cups and sweet cup with Dutch tulips. What a lovely surprise!

We are looking forward to getting together with Deb again. She's lots of fun and we had an excellent visit. Thank you Deb for all your hospitality! :)
