Look who's a year old already!

Look who had a party yesterday to celebrate his first birthday!

Our godson Benjamin!

That boy knows how to work the camera, let me tell you.

Gordon spent some time discussing cake with Ben. It's always interesting talking to Ben. His mother is a francophone, his father an anglophone. I ended up speaking "franglais" most of the time! Gordon does the same. I can't wait to hear what Ben says when he starts speaking.

And look! John Deere. He's a future farmer!

His Maman Marie-Emmanuelle made a cake. She said it was the first cake she'd ever baked.

It was delicious! Vanilla cake with whipped cream icing, berry filling, marzipan letters, and lychees!

Somebody was VERY pleased!

Gordon and Marie-Emmanuelle chilled out for a while.

I like Ben's approach to eating cake...

We had a great visit with our little man and his extended family. They have opened a new highway and bridge in Quebec that allows us to bypass Montréal completely on the way to Ben's house. It saves us at least half an hour of driving a lot of headaches. Now we can get to the godson in 90 minutes. Hooray!

Happy birthday Ben!

  1. What a cutie

My cousin's three year old son only speaks French, so at family gatherings, if his maman is not around, all the other family members put me in charge of him - because I'm the only one who can understand what he's saying.
