Ladies and germs, we have a WINNER!

Remember last month, when I wrote my 1500th post and announced a giveaway? Well, I finally got my act together and drew the name of a winner.

All the names of people who left comments on that post went into a basket.

I grabbed my able assistant Gordon just as he came home from a hard day's work in bail court...

To guarantee fairness, he looked away from the basket as he rummaged around and pulled out a name.

He's quite good at this. Maybe one day he'll be a real judge!

And the winner is....

This is particularly fitting, because in October, I won a beautiful sunflower apron in Susan's blog giveaway. So now I get to return her kindness.

Susan has won two bars of my handmade soap...

...and a jar of my honey!

Now, that was my first batch of soap BUT I made it under the supervision of my soapmaking friend, and I have already tested out a bar, so rest assured, it shouldn't take off a layer of skin or cause large blisters or anything like that. :) One bar is peppermint, the other is orange.

All my years working as a packaging designer have come in handy at the farm. And we are this close to naming our farm "Amorous Duck Farm." I think I can guarantee that no other farm around here has that name. But I'll have to get the sign made so that it reads "AMOROUS DUCK farm", not Amorous DUCK FARM", if you catch my drift. We don't exist solely to breed amorous ducks. Although we do seem to breed rather a lot of them anyway... but technically, we aren't a duck farm. Yet. :)

If you haven't checked out Susan's blog, you should, because it's wonderful (and she's an incredible baker.)

Congrats, Susan. Can you email me your mailing address? I thought I had it somewhere but apparently not!

This was fun. I'll have to do more of these in the future! Thanks to everyone who entered.

  2. Lucky Susan! So great that you have your own resident judge to ensure it's all on the up and up. And such an elegant drawing. I changed into a suit and tee to view it.

  3. Judging by the above photo you may need to change the name to SUBMISSIVE PUPPY Farm.

BTW--my hubby draws the names for my give-away too--it's teamwork! XOXO

  7. Well done, Susan.
Love the new name for the farm. Currently my ducks have no amorous intentions at all.

  8. This is so much fun. It was an honour to be in that basket. And to have such a handsome judge doing his work with such serious dignity. Better than in all the courts in the world! Congrats, Susan.

  13. Really cool post on picking a winner.
BUT a germ? I'm a germ? Well, I'll have to think this one over. Maybe if I'm a germ I shouldn't follow your blog anymore!

  16. I can only be grateful that Gordon did not offer his congratulations in the same manner as the dashing dog.

    Susan may disagree...

    1. Gordon does show some restraint. Unlike me.
