Chipmunk aspiring to be cat food

The other week, I found Naomi on the windowsill looking very interested in something. She was making that chattering noise cats make when they see a choice tidbit they want to slaughter and eat...

...which in this case...

...was a chipmunk!

It was digging in the flowerpots, seemingly oblivious to impending Catmageddon.

Then it boldly checked us both out...

...turned its back on us..

...and went back to torturing poor Naomi! A good time was had by all.

    1. I really like them. I would train them to take nuts from my hand, but my dogs have been known to catch and kill small rodents, so I don't want the chipmunks to let their guard down in our yard.

Cute little chipmunk (maybe he knew the cat was trapped behind the window). That I-spy-something-to-kill sound from cats I labeled "chittering."

    1. I think you're right. He understands the protection of the window. And "chittering" is the perfect word for it.

  5. Loved this post! Replace the chippy with a pigeon or two and this is Addie's life every single morning when the sun hits our windowsills! (Although she is the only cat I've ever had who doesn't really "chitter", disappointingly.)

    1. Augh, pigeons, they love to taunt windowsill cats!
Maybe Addie will develop a chitter later in life? One can hope!

    1. The poor cats! Something is always taunting them. Of course, they do their fair share of dog-taunting...

    First, your godson is adorable!

Second, that chipmunk appears to be mocking Naomi ...

    1. I'm pretty smitten with the godson, I have to say. :) Gordon says he's at least as cute as our kitten, which is high praise coming from him, LOL!!

And that chipmunk IS mocking Naomi!
