Pizza and a doofus

There was a time when I posted my Friday-night pizza photos on this blog every week. Then I got lazy about posting photos. Then I got lazy about making pizza!

But it's Gordon's favourite, so I am trying to get back into the swing of making it every Friday.

This weekend, we had tomato/potato/basil/red onion/mozzarella pizza on a base of olive oil and garlic. I was going to photograph it in stages, but then I got distracted...

Still waiting for taters and onions!

Out of the oven!

Potatoes on pizza may sound strange, and I forget where I got the idea to start doing this, but it's one of our favourites. Cheese and potatoes are the two foods I would take with me to a desert island, so this pizza makes me happy.

And here's the doofus...

He falls asleep like this on his inflatable bed. At point, he had a front leg extended straight up into the air, but he dropped it down before I could get a photo. He was also drooling on his bed. Note wet spots near snout! Tristan is turning nine this fall and is showing signs of age, but is still a happy boy.

Hope you are all having a great weekend! Thanks for reading.

  1. That's the cutest doofus I've ever seen. You are blessed to be surrounded by so many awesome animals.

I adore artichoke hearts and kalamata olives on pizza. Ever try them?

  2. I guess Gordon doesn't mind 'no meat' on his pizza? This is where WE run into a problem and end up with a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza. Potatoes? Never tried them on pizza but I could survive on them so I'm going to put them on my half. Be ready for the heat tomorrow. It's gonna be a doozy. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4

  3. AHab, I LOVE artichoke hearts and kalamata olives! I haven't done that at home, have had it on pizza in restaurants. However, I am ready to rectify that situation and make that at home. Yum!

Deb, Gordon is good about going meatless fairly often. Neither of us is vegetarian. We do both like fish a lot! Cook the taters first before you put them on the pizza (boil them) and brush them with a little olive oil with garlic if you like!

I hear it's supposed to be 31C tomorrow, no doubt with humidex on top?! stay cool!

  4. It's a toss up, eating pizza or snuggling your hound! Spuds on pizza, gotta think about that one...

  5. You have a theme here - things on circles. First you have the pizza fixings on the circular pizza, then you have Tristan on his circular bed. Cute!

  6. Oh Yummy! Mmmmm Mmmmmm. Doofus looks very happy. Aren't dogs silly? Maybe you need to get a nice goat to live inside with you! xoxoxo

  7. Haha a tasty pizza but a real cutie! Dogs just don't have the elan of a cat though!

  8. Very sweet doofus! Dusty loves to lie on his back, too. Much better chance of getting a belly rub that way!

  9. Don't we just spoil our pets? I love Tristan! I've been really wanting a dog or 2, but right now I'm absolutely refusing to take on anymore responsibilities. I just can't do anymore! I really want honey bees. We just met a great beekeeper who lives down the street. I really want some goats. Someone offered us free goats. Ugh, It's so hard to keep saying no to myself!!! So you'll just have to keep posting pics of your doggies, and that'll give me my doggie fix, I guess.

The pizza looks great. I'm really hungry right now.... Can I come over for leftover pizza??? Wait, it's Monday, there probably isn't leftover pizza from Fri... darn!

Potatoes on pizza is seriously starchy, indeed it is starch upon starch, and with cheese in the middle... sounds good.

Ooo, that looks good. I can almost smell it! Do you make your own pizza dough too?

Tristan knows how to relax, that boy. :)

  14. Katnip, spuds and pizza go together like ... cats and lizards! ;)

Evlyn, your artistic eye caught the theme! (Mine didn't! Hee hee!) Come to think of it, even the taters are round. Maybe I was working subconsciously.

Isobelle, you'd find that bed very comfy! But you wouldn't EAT it, would you? A goat is a fine addition to any home.

Jams, cats have more class than to lie around with their private bits hanging out!!

  15. Lynn, I want it all: donkeys, llamas, geese, miniature cow, pig, CLydesdales, a separate bantam chicken coop, guineas... I need a farm boy!!! ANd I would love to share pizza with you! ANd that's great about having a beekeeper nearby. It is so much easier to learn when you have hands-on help.

Freshisle, Dusty is a smart boy!

David, I don't know if my pizza will live up to the famous pies of Chicago, but you can come for dinner anytime.

LBM, I've gotten quite hooked on it. Taters and cheese go well together. Like Andrew said, starch on starch with a little starch. Mmmmmm!

TTPT, I do make my own dough, half wholewheat flour. It's an easy recipe from my Canadian Living cookbook.

That pizza looks amazing! I've never thought of adding potatoes but it sounds delicious. Love the doofus.

  17. Do you make your own dough from scratch or use prepared dough? My supermarket has dough in the refrigerated section, but I don't know how good it is. I usually end up buying one of those prepared, pre-baked crusts when I want to make a pizza. (My fave topping: carmelized onions. Yummmmm.)

Word verification thingee: Prell. Are you taking product placement now?

PS: So sorry to hear about Claudia.

  19. Jim, I make it from scratch! Part white and part wholewheat flour, from a Canadian Living cookbook recipe.
