Trilliums

The trillium is Ontario's provincial flower, and right now they are out in full force in the local deciduous woods:

Look, but don't pick!

  1. Nice shots. I was driving yesterday thinking I should stop and take some pix of the trilliums in the woods...and now I don't have to! Nice job.

  2. Every year I mean to take photos, and every year I forget. For a change I was in the right place at the right time, with a camera!

  3. Well, a few of the official Ontario flowers got into Quebec.(les envahisseurs!) There are tons at the summit atop Mount Royal.
A few years back, I took a whole roll (yes, the non digital stuff) and made notes with them.

The trilliums were not quite open last Sunday, but I am sure they are bloomin' now!

  6. Beautiful - as a child I was a terrible Trillium picker! I especially loved the dark purple ones.
I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I'be been told you can transplant them!

  7. Yeah, they are all over the forests here too. I've never seen one close up though.

  9. Wandering Cat, I too was a naughty little trillium picker. I must have known it was wrong, because I had one in a vase, and when I found out our policeman-neighbour was coming over, I hid it in the kitchen cupboard!
