Ready fo some more..

I like it when Gordon brings home empty egg cartons and I find notes like this inside:

It seems like only yesterday that our little egg-goddesses looked like this:

July 2009

Then they turned into gangly teenagers:

August 2009

And now they are full-grown layers, with distinct personalities and plenty of attitude:

February 2010

I love our girls!

  2. Your girl was a beautiful baby...and an absolute stunner grown up.

I'll bet the eggs from your chickens stay "perky" in a frying pan, unlike the whites of the store-bought ones which spread like water all over the pan.

    I'm jealous of Janet!

  4. Ya know, that note to Gordon can have some other meanings...

    I'm just sayin'!

  5. Yeah, I'm a little suspicious about that note. Have you had a heart-to-heart with Gordini recently? No, I mean seriously? Not just a chat over morning coffee but a full-out drunken evening rant? Accusing him right and left of imagined affairs with vague Mexican women (well, Janet could be a pseudonym) and seeing how red in the face he gets?

Look. He didn't earn the moniker "Evil Gordini" fa nuttin'.

    =+)

  6. Nick and Mo, I will shake him down and see what comes out.... right after he brings me my cup of tea and finishes making dinner, and finishes applying peppermint foot cream to my tootsies! I have to say though, I think he's congenitally incapable of lying, so the drunken rant might not last long!

  7. Marylee, they do. Did you know that as eggs get less fresh, the whites become runnier? So the longer they are stored, the thinner the whites get.

Paula, the hens are a bright spot in my life! Gordon loves them too.

    Elisabeth, my hen-girl thanks you!

  8. Well, I'm still suspicious. Watch our little Gordini carefully, like I watch my GI Joes. Who knows what mayhem they're going to come up with at any given time?

It's the eyes that give them away. Watch the eyes. Always watch the eyes.

  9. From now on I pledge not to go after your chickens anymore.

See, that's how much I love you.
And I will stop by next week with the promised goods.

  10. Chef Nick, I'll watch the eyes!

Willie, I don't believe you about the chickens. :)
