Yala

The day before yesterday we went to Yala National Park to see the beautiful wildlife therein. There were many, many elephants out and about...

Including adorable baby elephants!

This youngster was so cute, and then...

...his/her little sibling showed up!

And we saw...

...leopard tracks by the road!

And then we saw the leopard...

What? You can't see him? Look harder!

Okay, well, through the binoculars he looked great! A big beautiful male, lounging around in the shade.

It was a hot, dusty, happy day.

Now we are in Ella.

I found a new friend in our bathroom...

The teeniest- tiniest gecko I've ever seen!

Doing an excellent job on bug patrol!  As were the bats flying through the open-air restaurant last night.

More soon!

  8. Fascinating. But I'm not sure I could dine in a restaurant with hot-and-cold running bats!

  12. Wonderful country, and thank goodness they've now stopped fighting each other (if they have). How marvelous to have elephants living wild like that.

    1. Yes, it does seem that the fighting has stopped. I notice quite a difference from our last visit in terms of police/army presence. Tourism is up too.
