It was hunting and eating the rabbits on our property. I called the closest animal welfare society and they told me that they did not have a contract to pick up cats in our township. So, I called our township and they said that they are only equipped to pick up stray dogs. Over the holidays, our son and his family came to visit and decided to take the cat. It's been to their vet and checked over, de-wormed, de-fleaed and given it's shots. They are going to have it neutered as well. I'm just happy that the cat, now named Hippo has found a good home as we could not adopt it. There is a farm house near us and apparently people are often dropping off their litters on the road to it...it disgusts me that there are so many irresponsible pet ownersPaulahttp://vanillabeanbaker.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10685986.post-36901866001009877932012-01-07T09:43:12.791-05:002012-01-07T09:43:12.791-05:00You know, you never "get" a cat. Too young to voluntarily leave her mom. She's a lovely little cat and will turn 12 soon. I'm sure you won't regret your adoption. Maybe we could dump some people in the backwoods.Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01816796977553847916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10685986.post-84873043708403290662012-01-07T08:14:59.096-05:002012-01-07T08:14:59.096-05:00Yeah Emily! That is so awful ...Yeah Emily! I love that name!

That is so awful that someone would leave a kitten to freeze, leave it to suffer a slow and miserable death. I don't get people. And she's healthy and cute and a baby, too. She could have been dropped at a shelter where someone would have loved a Christmas kitty. Bad, evil person. Poor Emily, if only she could talk!

But now you are Gordon are blessed! It was meant to be! Yeah!! How do the other cats like her so far?

I just brought in cat #3 inside. At first #2 didn't like #3, but now they are all BFFs. #3 is a teenager and is so full of spunk and plays 24/7. He wears the other 2 out! And they are only about 3 years old themselves!

Congrats on the new baby girl!
~LynnRazzberry Cornerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17644607616585345473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10685986.post-72246756994817733812012-01-06T22:38:41.090-05:002012-01-06T22:38:41.090-05:00Happy New Cat!Happy New Cat!Sean Jeatinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08978285783271305489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10685986.post-21946012611695154332012-01-06T22:08:36.741-05:002012-01-06T22:08:36.741-05:00Beautiful pics of you two. I figured since she was healthy, it's plausible she got out of someone's house by mistake but since you don't have many neighbors and know them all I guess the poor thing was dumped. That's so horrible. At least she has a happy future now. It's a miracle she survived weather like that in the first place.

Emily reminds me of my Wendy Kitty when she was a baby... and before she turned towards the dark side. :p

KristinKristin_Texashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03405146061692261631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10685986.post-20782904373455986682012-01-06T19:44:56.478-05:002012-01-06T19:44:56.478-05:00Love Emily's black markings. I know all the neighbours within 5 km and would know if they'd lost a kitten. Plus kitty would have to cross acres and acres of frozen fields just to get to our place. :( And no kitten of that age should be outside here in January, period. So I'm not too worried she's lost. It was in the -20s when we found her and she wouldn't have lasted long wandering around. If we lived closer to town, I'd put up an ad. :)Knatoleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03809822081515082096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10685986.post-19642769084696881052012-01-06T18:49:02.306-05:002012-01-06T18:49:02.306-05:00Freshisle, me neither!
