Suppertime at the kitty farm!

Feeding time at the kitty farm!

Alex, Naomi, Emily and Julius. Oh yeah, and Gordon.

Emily is growing like a weed. She has these growth spurts and gets all skinny. I think I need to fill her out  just a little bit more. Meanwhile Alex has lost three pounds on his new diet and is doing great. And Julius is truly all fluff, not fat. :)

  1. 3 lbs is a lot for a kitty. You must tell us about the diet so I can pass it on to some of my clients who have obese cats. Look at the markings on that girl. She is spectacular and getting big. Love Julius's color and Gordon looks good, too.

  2. It's that raw diet thing, Deb! Alex was 14 pounds on three legs and it was not good. OUr vet tech said they give cats some "Catkins" diet that works wonders. I figure the raw diet is similar in a way as it's low-carb (just cuz I'm concentrating on the meat!, not because I was seeking out low-carb.) Anyway, he's doing well and has lots more energy so I'm very pleased. I think he's lost enough now though.

I need to take some more pics of EMily. She is really looking gorgeous.

    1. I think the raw food diet is working along the same lines as Catkins would! Hope Duncan has a good weigh-in! :) It was particularly bad for Alex to be overweight, given that he is missing a hind leg.

  5. Ok, Nat, where do you get the raw food? What exactly kind of food? My Mother has a 20+ pound cat that is addicted to dry food. She cant take it away altogether because she also has a little 7 pound cat that needs to eat. They are both opposites. Maybe the raw diet is for them? Please give me details or a weblink and I'll help my mom to get started!

    1. Lynn, I did a blog post on it in Feb:

      http://knatolee.blogspot.ca/2012/02/raw.html

BUT you don't have to make it yourself from scratch. I know there are places that sell pre-made raw cat food. Like here:

      http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/citydesk/2010/01/25/area-woman-brings-raw-food-diet-to-pets/

      and here:

Let me know if you have any questions! There are more links in that raw blog post I did (first link)

Sometimes it takes a while to switch them over. Julius, Naomi and Emily took to it immediately but Alex took a long time to switch. I had to wean him off kibble very sloooowly but it was worth it!

  6. It;s firturnate that you can feed them all together. We have to feed ours allseparately or else Bebe will be bullied out ofher food, and Ted and Boris will probably come to blows

    1. I'm glad it's peaceable, although we have to watch them because EMily will steal the other cats' food and right now, they let her get away with it (like they know she's a baby!)

  7. Love that photo. I bet Gordon has a hard time to get his share of the food.
